Driving with E Brake On

So, as i pull into work from my lunch break I notice my E Brake was on the entire drive. My question is, how will this affect my car and is it going to require any adjustment, etc. Any problems associated with this down the line?

the only thing i could see is maby premature rear brake pad replacement...at that even....possibly even a warped drum....try takeing apart the rear drum assembly and see how the pads look...

I will when I get home, I didnt drive too far with it on luckily.

Yea it has to get pretty darn hot to warp the drum, you would feel the dragging and smell the burning pad material

I let Junior drive home from passing his driving test way back in 2000. It was a good 20 minutes into the drive before I smelled the burn. Funny thing, it was the drums that were toast. The shoes were fine, and are still on the truck at 150k.

He and his sister also cost me a clutch.

lol fun...yea ive personaly never drove that long with the e-brake on but if i did....id check that first,,,

Does your E-brake work and is it in good condition? When I purchased my truck, it took me a minute to figure out that it didn't. I would think if yours is functioning, you wouldn't be able to go forward or expect a decent amount of resistance. The tire shop guys removed, cleaned and lubed them and they're now at 100%. They had locked up over time due to non-use from the previous owner. Maybe the cable tension needs adjusting on the brake lever. Turns out when mine were seized up, one of them was in locked position so I had been driving like that for some time. Didn't damage the shoes or drum but my gas mileage improved a bit after fixing -

Exactly what I was thinking, I can't even take off with my E-brake on, you might be fine OP, but your e-brake might need some work.

it also might be a biatch to get the drum off from the pad causing a groove in the drum

A lot of people start messing with the cable when the more common problem are the bellcranks (the little levers on the outside of the back of the drums that the cable attaches to.) Those like to seize up, especially in the salt belt. They can seize up locked on or locked off. It's important, because without the e-brake, the auto adjusters don't work.
