I had wanted a jump starter box for awhile and the road trip to Colorado for my daughter's wedding was a good excuse to pick one up. I did not want a huge one though. I found out of the NOCO's when I picked up a trickle charger set up a while back for the 4Runner. They make a few different sizes, I went with a mid range model that will jump start up to 6.0 Liter gas engine:

So with my 84" roof basket the stock luggage rack wasn't going to cut it, so using parts from the 4Runner shell a friend gave me I extended the rack 26" , by doing so I gained a 3rd crossbar. Gotta love a 45 minute project
Used 5 nutserts on each side

Came out pretty decent

Finished up mounting the rack. It is a little higher than I was hoping for. I may end up Remowing the crossbars and hard mount it to the rails.

I added a small ATV storage box that could be used for stuff like recovery gear or miscellaneous crap
Plenty of real estate for stuff

I'm going to be doing the full length rack modification to my 3rd gen, but using big washers under the roof. Yours came out nice!

Not sure when I will lower it. But Habenero said her husband used some strut material to mount/lower his rack on his 99. I have a ton of strut scrap around so I may do that..pretty straight forward

Not quite but did some stuff with it today before the rain it

So what is the first thing you should do with your new Trail-Gear rear bumper?
Of Course you should chop it up:whip2:

Before I could mount the bumper to test it I got a hold of Mark aka- Chefyota4x4 and he was awesome and took some measurements off his 4Runner's T-G bumper. His measurements were spot on.
I haven't finished welding it but here is what the tweaked bumper will end up as:

This will allow the bumper to still ofFer some great corner protection and allow the Toyota swing out tire carrier to work

OK, I tried welding the bumper but my POS welder just didn't have the juice to do the plate so I sought professional help from my buddy Joe who runs Journey Offroad
He has built some cool rigs, currently building a power stroke Ford Expedition Van he converted to 4x4. It is a beast, will have about an 800 mile travel range.

Joe made short work of finishing it up. I got it home, test fit and mounted.

If I run a wheel spacer the 35 will clear the bumper but not the hitch.
I have an idea to slice and dice the mounting face for the tire up higher, but than I sacrifice visibility (not that there is a lot anyway, back camera in the works).
I don't intend to tow with this thing, the receiver would mainly be used for recovery, the bumper does have a couple of points I can use a shackle until I get the mount raised.

The Dynomax 17418 Cat Back isn't exactly a direct replacement.

Sounds good but sort of pain to get it to work/fit correctly

Going through random crap in the garage.
It is nice finding stuff that will help save a few bucks when it comes time to get the suspension done

Good find. I am selling my house and found a lot of stuff. But nothing cool like that. I did find an ECU and harness for a 89 pickup. Going to give it to a guy that needs one. Found a coil, cap/dizzy/distributor, many many water and oil pumps, alternator, lots of bolts and brackets. Where did it all come from.
