drove with parking brake in 4Lo...

Damn I feel stupid;

I was off road earlier, and got out of the vehicle after driving through a mud puddle to survey what was ahead of me. Since I was at a full stop and was exiting the vehicle, I had the parking brake applied.

Upon resuming my travels, I noticed that the car wasn't budging in 4Hi. I assumed that I had gotten stuck with one of the rear wheels still in the puddle, so I put the 4Runner into 4Lo, and was able to move forward.

The car let out the worst of the worst screeching noises, and was very sluggish lurching forward. This was when I noticed that I still had the parking brake applied.

My 4Runner is a 2016, and for some reason the warning noise didn't beep alerting me to the brake (or I didn't notice it).

I didn't drive far at all, probably less than the length of the vehicle. Is it possible that any damage was done to the transfer case, front differential or engine?? Normally I wouldn't sweat it if I accidentally left the brake on for a second, but this has never happened while I was in 4wd at all.

I feel like such a dummy.

Naw you just wore your e-brake pads down a bit. That's nothing compared to what I did. Drove probably 2 miles or more in dirt with mine on. Came to a stop and they were smoking. Didn't notice it was on because I had pulled the plug on the master and all my lights were on

Naw, shouldn't affect the drive train. All you did was strain the brakes a little. The e brake is basically a drum set up. It pushes out to keep the wheels from spinning but it's just a brake shoe. Enough force and it will create friction but it will move. In my defense I was hungover as all hell and I was busier throwing up every half mile than paying attention to my brakes. Hahah.

I've done it too, after getting out to survey a hole I was in on a steep hill.
And then I listened to the engine roar the rest of the way up the hill.

The worst part is that I think there was an intermittent alarm, and a flashing red light telling me that my ebrake was on.

I felt pretty stupid
