Dual Battery Tray Options

It was $625 Aud. So that looks like about $652 US. Not as bad of a conversion as I thought it was going to be, but that is pretty expensive.
I emailed cruiser larry, aka Dirty Parts, about his kit for the FJ and sent pics of my hood interior. He thinks the kit will fit. I didn't move on it because I wanted to get my suspension done first. That kit would put the battery behind the air intake up by the fire wall. I think it is around $400. I'd post a link to it, but I hate trying to find anything on his website.
The final unknown option would be the IBS or some other controller and then possibly Buds Tray.
Has anyone seen any pictures of what Bud has fabbed so far?
The IBS with the RBM is like $465, so assuming Buds tray price is reasonable, that may be the way to go. If it is high, then the ABR at $650 US may be the way to go. Still have to buy a battery yet. So boy, dual batt system gets expensive....

$625 is WAAAAYYYYY too expensive for a battery tray.
That wasn't just the tray... also included the relays, controls etc. so not that far off from the IBS kit at ~$450 (without a tray).

I actually just checked the pricing again, and it looks like they've come down quite a bit in price and shipping is now reasonable! This option looks like it's back on the table... It's about $160 shipped now which is about half of what it used to be!

Shipping used to be quite expensive, but the screenshot I posted above was after I put my U.S. zip code in there for a shipping estimate. I went all the way to "pay now" on PayPal and the total was still $13.95 AUD for shipping. Do you know something I don't?
That is for shipping in Aus. only. On the site you can not change the delivery country. It's locked into Aus. Yes, when logging onto ebay in another country, the site does prompt you for your country and zipcode. Ebay doesn't automatically adjust all shipping for items. I've run into this before. If i am wrong for some reason, i would love it. I got a quote on that tray for 250 delivered.

I just tried calling their office and it went to an answering machine that said, "Sorry, this office is unattended. For questions please email us ... purchases can be made on our website... blah blah blah". Funny since the phone number is listed directly under "Enquiries" under the FAQ.

A few months ago I tried to email them and was informed they don't ship to the US. Then a friend of mine from NZ was actually going to be in the same AU town so I asked him to visit and pick up a tray for me. They informed him rather rudely that they don't do counter sales.

Awesome. I was just thinking that I might be able to pick one up shortly since I travel to AU on business fairly regularly. I guess that idea is squashed, too. The sentiment of no counter sales seems to be reinforced by the fact that they mention all sales are done via the website on their voicemail message.

I actually just spoke to bud yesterday. I sent him all my shop info to get n order in for myself and limamike. I briefly spoke to him about the battery trays. He said that we could potentially have these in a couple weeks.
I have spoken with my guys at the shop about our own fabrication. I just haven't had the time to work on it with them. We've been slammed with work and busy with the upcoming show and all.

Dave, this sure doesn't sound like the same Derek Bester with whom I've been dealing. He even sent me a spare battery isolator gratis in case anything ever happened to the one in the dual battery kit.
I'll send Derek a typical Canadian "have you lost your mind" type email and see if that changes matters for any potential US-based buyer.
I've just emailed Derek Bester at ABR-Sidewinder asking if there is a reason for rejecting potential American customers. I received an immediate reply; dare I say .. fixed it for ya!

"I have had a few people buy from our website but as the postage cost is for local Oz delivery we automatically cancel and refund the sale.
They should contact me by email to get a quote for international postage. Perhaps one person should buy say 10 trays and do a group deal to save on the postage."
The battery tray is $140 AUD, the isolator/dual battery cable kit is $195 AUD and the battery monitor is $80 AUD so an installation identical to mine would be $415 AUD, excluding shipping. That's about $430 USD which I think is fairly competitive with the IBS set-up and other full dual battery kits once you factor in the cost of a custom battery tray.
Anyone want to coordinate a group buy?
