Dual Lockers and 01 Trac Control - Will they play together ?

Since my 96 dual locked went to the crusher, time to start on my 01.
What you guy's think will happen when I mix the 01 Trac Stability systems
with Harrop E-lockers, brand does'nt matter, lockers in general.
Let's here what you think.

Gotta come up with new name now, chit.

my guess is it will be fine. it only kicks in when abs sensor detect tires slipping. when locked they would be the same speed and hopefully your going slow anyways.

Just a guess

Just going to need to do the TCS, ABS switch mod. I have an 02 and without the mod wheeling sucked!

Oh yea, Andy Mod in the making, with a twist, if it works will let folks know about it.
Just because your locked does'nt mean you have to go slow.

Keep your thoughts coming, Thanks.

Let's say front wheels slipping rear not will abs kick in?
Lockers on the 96 with ABS never presented a problem, 01 system is new territory for me.

From the experiences I've heard guys' on here have with the early VSC/TRAC, it pretty well sucks.
To add to that, the point of TRAC is to keep your tires from spinning. If you have lockers, you may as well just disable the TRAC for good.
I disabled my VSC/TRAC by putting a standard brake booster in my '01. It doesn't keep my tires from spinning, but it also never kills my buzz, and I am always the one in control of what my brakes are doing!

They don't present a problem in my 97 either. As long as you disable all the fancy trac control crap it should perform exactly the same.

Just curious. Are you really thinking of going with Harrop? Is your new rig factory locked in the rear already?

That's my thinking also, disable the nanny stuff good to go.

01 no factory locker, 96 was ARB front OE rear. I had extra coverage on 96 for mods so I recouped my money when totaled nothing was salvageable.
Been looking for OE locker rear, my neck of the woods OE not worth cost.

Harrop, I like the idea of being electric over air this go round. smmarine on Tacoma World has Harrop front, likes it. Been talking to Harrop, the rear is available now. Looking at their design, and being around this type application in a industrial environment though a open air application I see being submerged in oil a plus. I have seen this Harrop type clutch application in, dry, open air, nasty environ, high cycle rate/min, high rpm spin rate, high shock load run 24/7/365 with very good (years) reliabilty. At speeds our diffs would spin the setup, the limited use, minimal shock load I'm really liking the idea.
Would hotrod MV50 or Viair compressor for air.
Cost is there of coarse but ay it's only money, right.
Diggin your dual cases by the way, thats on my list this ride.

I looked at them before deciding to go ARB. ARB has been proven as the strongest locker for a long time. It's also 1000 less then going the Harrop route for both.

I think both will run a long time as long as there used often. The only ARB non-op failures I've seen are blown o-ring cause the rig sat for 5 years and melted air line cause the installer put it way to close to the exhaust manifold.

If your running OBA anyway ARB seems like a more logical choose. You can put that 1000 bucks saving towards the dual case. If your serious about dual casing start looking for a topshift gear drive case for the crawl box now. They're getting harder to come by for a reasonable price.

Trac only activates when one or two wheels are spinning at significantly higher speeds than the others. If your axles are locked and the center diff is locked, this is not possible, so Trac will never see a need to intervene.

Also, Trac is disabled in 4Lo with the diff locked anyways, so unless you are doing donuts Ive never found a need to pursue disabling it.

Your spot on it sucks from both buzz kill and reliability issues.
I followed you swap, not going to do it unless I have to for now.
I got to thinking/doing root cause failure analysis (big words) on the MC system.
Its a hydraulic system with spools and seals that very seldom if ever gets used.
O-rings get stuck to spools then when spools move from ABS use they get damaged. So for now after a fluid change and good flush 16 months ago I lock them brakes up 2-4 times a month or so. Just a theory see how it pans out.

Lets back up a minute, I said Trac module is new territory for me, thats misleading. I'm familiar with how it functions as designed and theory. It's the unknown of the mods we like to do and the wrenchs that get thrown in the spokes
when we do. HA.

100% nothing against ARB they tuff, ran on 96 since 09 it was hitting a concrete
interstate divider at 75 mph headon that was its end, along with rest of it. without a problem.

Sometimes not about money, something different. I really like the land cruiser
locker switch next to diff lock switch that worth a $1000.

Thanks for heads up on hard to find parts.

Andy Mod 2.0 and your good to go

2002 with front and rear ARB, and andy mod is like a mini series 80 with ifs. Triple Locked.

Now go out and find a manual hub conversion while your front diff is off for the locker install, it saves labor time.

Prep the donor arms with total chaos gussets and you should be pretty set.

You put some purdy lipstick on the pig, like it.

Mini 80 triple locked is the plan.
90% sure with Harrop for simplicity, no worries where to put compressor.
Rear storage cubby is sub box, under hood is full. MV50 for air when needed.
Have fresh 4.56 front diff on the shelf going to ECGS.
Manual hubs on shelf, need the rest for conversion.
More than likely the gussets.

Andy Mod, for sure. Looking at the EWD's I'm seeing a possible different way
to do it, don't know the mind set of guy's that came up with idea, we'll see.
