Dura Tracs Or BFG's! That seems to be the ultimate questions here?

Hey Guy's

I am seeking some advice so I don't do something foolish here. I have read way to much information on this site and can't keep it straight anymore.

I have 2007 v-6 limited 18's wheels (stock 265 60 18's) with day star 2.5/1.5 and spider trax.
I am ready to buy new tires!
My conundrum do I go with the BFG KO's in a 275 65 18 or the Dura tracs in the same size. I am leaning towards the dura tracs as what I have read they handle wet pavement better and might suit my needs more. I spend 150-200 miles a week on the pavement and 40-50 miles a week off road, mostly dry clay and rocky, but occasional mud and flooding. As I see it they will both rub and need trimming, but from my research in this form the dura tracs may require more trimming than the bfg's. I don's mind some trimming to make them fit, but I am trying to avoid finding out that I now need to put Fj coils in to make them fit.
Or
Should I just give in and go with the 265 65 18 bfg's ko and call it a day with no or minor trimming?
Thanks for your help, it's a crappy tire size, I wish Toyota would have kept the sport 17' rims on the limited.

I don't know what kind of trimming issues you'll run into, because I have a 3rd gen, but I do want to say I have the BFG A/T KO's and I love them. I went with them over the Duratrac's and I have no regrets. I hear that the Duratrac's are an awesome tire, but after having the BFG's I don't want to ever have a different off-road tire. They handle dirt, rocks, snow, and light mud really well. I believe it is definitely the best all-terrain tire out there right now.

Ive owned both GY and BFG. I can honestly say that I'll never buy anything but BFGs. I currently own both the BFG AT KOs and the KM2s. Have u considered the KM2s? Great on road and insane traction off-road. Also thee quietest mt Ive ever owned. FWIW

Have you had any cracking or deterioraion of the tires after a few years. I am in Hawaii and have seen a few Hummer 2's with them on and they are like dry and falling apart with plenty of tread left. I had BFG's on my old 2nd generation T4R and the rear slid out alot on wet pavement, the treads were worn but only had like 30k on them. Thanks,

Thanks, I have not looked at the KM2's, I dont think they are available in 18's but I could be wrong. I will take a look.

I would give the Duratracs a shot now. Being that you had a less than perfect experience with the BFGs in the past, why not? I researched this same question to death a few months ago. I was sold on the BFGs ever since I got my 4Runner. Then I saw the Duratracs. I researched them and looked at them, not a single regret. They handle great in everything I've tested them in so far: pavement (wet and dry), snow, mud, dirt, etc. Only 8,000 miles on mine so far, they still look brand new.

Thanks, Njshadow93 your ride looks tight! I am tired of reading and searching the same posts to death. It seams almost crazy to me that the most common daystar spacer lift and spider trax wheel spacer options are not the most posted on this sight with the tire selections I am looking at. Especially since the are the most economical mods you can do. I guess that's my answer. I will be sure to post pics after I pull the trigger on tires for new members to reference. I started out looking at the NTG's then BFG's KO's and now I think I am set on the Dura tracs. They just have the aggressive look I am looking for. On that note, what is your experience with the mpg on the GYDT's.

I have owned both and have the Duratracs on now. Just went through an absolute down poor with huge ruts on the I-90 and they were glued to the road even changing lanes through the ruts. I have always run the bf's in the past and got tired of all the small stones the bf a/t held on to from gravel roads and the looks are well...weak. I went out of the comfort zone and tried the Duratracs and have been happy, happy, happy. Not to mention the looks! I won't be going back to the bf's unless they improve the design to handle the wet, as well as, address the looks of the sidewall. The highway tread noise is low and seems more audible at low speeds. If you don't like the Duratracs people would be lining up to buy them used.

I did go with load range c to keep the weight down on the tires. With the wheel and tire combo my mileage has stayed same as stock.
