I know. Tons of info out there. Just want some current thoughts. Finally decided to get out of my E load BFG's. Enough time spent wasted bit*tching about them. 90% decided on 265/75-16 C load Duratracs.

Care to talk me out of it? Or convince me I'm making the right choice?

They're great tires. If you don't mind the highway hum, although they are not loud...they'll be louder than your BFG's. My Toyo Open Country A/T II's are nearly as quiet as Michelin LTX's.....and I've been really enjoying these tires. If I was buying 265/75's all over again, I think I'd still go with my Toyo's.

I was deciding whether to go with bfg or duratrac's last fall but I'm glad I went with the duratrac's..

E rated tyres are just going to be harsh on our rides.. I won't mind having E rated if I had an diesel truck..

what are the prices they are asking?
 
For a PNW rig, Duratracs are great. Not too noisy on the highway, kick ass in the snow, and do well on our trails.

265s are great if you have 4.30s and don't want to regear. With 4.10s they make the rig a bit sluggish and kill some MPGs.

And C rated tires are perfect for a 3rd gen. E rated are WAY too stiff and heavy.

(I spent months doing tire research and made the same decision you're thinking of doing. No regrets about it, I just really need to swap my 4.10s to the 4.30s I have sitting in my garage.)

Not going to be any more sluggish than my current set!

And I've found them for around $900 installed plus a $60 rebate.

Just realized you have 265/75 E rated BFGs... yeah, those are heavy! You'll love the Goodyears. I got mine from Discount/Americas, with a price match from some random online tire shop (they'll match the price for 4 tires+shipping) and a rebate on top of that.
 
I'm also thinking about getting these. Was going to get a set of five (one as the spare). Price at Discount currently is $193 each. I have time as my current tires are good. Any particular sale that discount does in the future that is worth waiting for?
 
That is one nice price. I hope to land some for my next pair at the right price.

I think Ron Maiden runs them and has had nothing but praise.
 
i've got over 55k miles on my set and have about 30-40% left. they are AWESOME in the snow and just about everywhere else.

Agree 100%, i just went up to the Blue Mountain "wilderness" and was rolling through ~1.5 ft of snow and where no snow, MUD! had a blast! especially coming to a "flock" of full size trucks in the middle of turning around, and i continued on!

I had to slow down ALLOT moving from E load's to the C, way less stiff a tire, but just barley starting to notice wear @ 5 k miles on mine. 265/75/16 (OEM Wheels).

Interested to see how the C load range works out for you. I'm running 285 E range Duratracs now, and I love them to death but the stiffness is starting to get the best of me, and once they wear out I will be downsizing to 265/75 so I can get them in a C range. I'm hoping this will soften out some of the rough ride I've had, and maybe give me slightly better acceleration/braking. I do LOVE the tires though, I recommend them to everyone. Good luck!
 
These tires are quite comparable to BFG's as far as road noise. They definitely are softer. If you ask me, I'd say they're almost perfect for our 3rd gens and Tacomas. Perfect blend of aggressive AT with the pliability to accommodate our lightweight trucks. I would consider the 285's if I had reason to do so. I hate to say it, but I find the same situation as some folks live and die by ford, chevy or jeep, your never gonna get them to try something else. These things are great and I've yet to hear another Toyota owner tell me otherwise. They're awesome in the snow and mud. I did go out of my way to get them to hydroplane, but it took about 8" of water at about 35 mph to achieve (not trying to be an idiot, just wanted to test). Anyway, I think the C rating is perfect with a 3" lift. Don't forget about the spare! -
