Not really sure how to start one of these, especially since we're at the beginning of this little adventure. Either way, been on the hunt for the past month or two. Being on the west coast, I knew I wanted something with as little rust as possible, lowish mileage and it needed to be a 99 or 00. I looked at 3 or 4. They either were covered in rust, had undisclosed accidents or just weren't clean enough for me to feel comfortable spending $8000.
Anyways, I posted a wanted ad on a whim and a guy sent me a message saying he had been so busy with work that he hadn't listed it yet. So after a month or so of me looking at some of those other rigs and waiting for our schedules to line up, we finally met over the weekend.
So I ended up with a 2000 Limited. 150,900 miles. Tiny bit of rust on the bottom side, rear locker and overall pretty clean. Recently in for a timing belt change, tires last year, struts last year and a new radiator two years ago. This is one of those younger guys with a little bit of money, who would roll into the dealership for an oil change and they would tell him he needed new struts, so he did it. He'd had it for the past 12 years, but was commuting a little further and honestly, I think he just wanted something a little more fun in the streets (he was talking about a new mazda) and less "old", which works perfectly for me. Got him down to $7500 and I was on my way home!
So at this point, only a few photos of the outside. My early plans is just a nice detail on the inside and outside, see if there is anything small I need to fix or replace. Check all the fluids and start my list of needs/wants. Right now, just thinking of new floor mats and the steering wheel is worn through in one spot.
Longterm, hoping to use this thread as a motivator for working on the rig, but also using my camera a bit more, maybe some videos and whatever else comes to mind concerning this 4runner! We'll see what happens I suppose

One nice thing is these have an adhesive back to them. So I peeled off the corners and stuck the rear one to the screws (you'll know what I'm talking about when you take the lens off).
