E-Locker Question

I've got a 1996 4runner. It has the factory e-locker in it. I've done the mod that allows you to engage the locker in 2hi, 4hi, and 4lo. The locker is engaging in all modes of the transfer case, but the light on the dash doesn't ever go solid...it flashes the whole time. Any ideas what would cause this?

I don't want to sound stupid but did you put it in neutral engage it and then go?

You don't need to put it into neutral for the elocker to engage.

You're saying the locker is engaging but the light flashes? Or you do mean you hear the motor actuate but the light still flashes? As in the locker won't lock. Because the light flashing means the motor has actuated but the locker hasn't engaged yet. You just need to drive slowly for a little bit and it will engage if it's working properly. If the locker is definitely locking, then I wouldn't worry about the blinking light, besides it being kind of annoying.

Oo sorry that's just how my dad always told me put it in neutral mine used to stick until I start using it more often and now it pops in

I hear the motor engage, and the locker actually engages (both wheels pull) but the light only flashes, it never goes solid.

try driving on some dirt or in a gravel parking lot with it "engaged" and see what does... i have a feeling its not locking fully. without my locker engaged i can get both tires to "pull" [as you say it] evenly. but there is a big difference between that and being locked.

I'd just engage it and then do a tight turn on the pavement. It will be VERY obvious if it's locked or not. Sure it's bad for your tires and puts a bit more strain on things but it's not going to honestly do any harm. People run spools and they aren't exploding.

Drive tight S turns in gravel after you turn on the locker. Mine won't engage when driving in a straight line. The light should go solid once it engages. See if that helps at all.

It was without a doubt locked up....no question. The light just flashes though. I won't be able to test it until the weekend again...I'm puzzled.
