Easy Weekend Mods

They aren't so much mods as they are general maintenance but these are easy, cheap jobs that are fun to knock out on weekends. Of all the things I've done to my truck, the biggest improvements came from:

-Changing the spark plugs
-Changing all differential/transfer case fluids
-Greasing the driveline (do it regularly too)
-Power steering flush
-Cleaning the MAF sensor and throttle body

I've also been very pleased with the AFE Pro Dry S filter...can't get any easier than swapping an air filter. Oh and check your cabin air filter too.

ok.. thats fine.. so the plasti dipp doesnt serve any beneficial purpose other than cosmetic right.. so i wouldnt say its a must.. i can def see the performance mods beneficial.. and like the rear back up light upgrade.. etc

Provides protection from the elements and sun. . . .its just something simple to do help with the longevity of your vehicles finish.

Another reason I like plasti dips removable quality is for resale value. I plan on keeping my 4r till it blows up but for someone who has resale in mind dipping your wheels,trim, Grill etc will give you a broader market of possible buyers. Some may not like the merked out look and prefer the shiny chrome you have kept clean and shiny under your dip. I've done every piece of chrome on my vehicle including the wheels so later down the road when I get some aftermarket wheels I can sell my stocks and they will still look brand new (ish)! Also another great application for dip no one has mentioned is the clear dip for a very very low cost clear bra. Not only for you front end but for you hatch and whatever else you want to keep safe from rock chips,rust and discoloration. On another note I imagine you could PD parts of your undercarriage to protect from rust. Obviously if you are a hard core off roader this solution is not for you. But for those salty east coast and beach drivers this is A much cheaper and DIYable solution for rust protection

Change out your idler pulleys. Took me 30 minutes and the new pulleys are quite nice. Less parasitic drag

My guess is that each motor has its specific air filter. Mine's a V8

Did you install an amp with your headunit? I took my dash apart yesterday and decided I'm going to order the parking brake override and an amp to power the sound. If you didn't add an amp, how does it sound right out of the headunit?

The factory air filter setup is different between V6s and V8s.

However, both the V6 and the V8, have the HCF filter in the same location, so this DIY that I posted is to be used as a guide.

open up the air filter box and seated right above the filter itself is the hydrocarbon filter. It mounts on rivets that are easily pried off using a flathead screwdriver. Looking at the hydrocarbon filter, it looks like a large fish tank filter with the same black beaded charcoal inside. Furthermore, it definitely restricts airflow. Blowing through it as hard as I could yields only a small amount of air that actually gets through it.

I have a sub amp. I'm running pioneer 3-way speakers front and back and the sound is INCREDIBLE! I have a 200w sub amp
