Easy Weekend Mods

Fixed rubbing issue with my 285-75-16 KO2s

Trimmed body mount and finders both sides. I also pushed the wheel wells forward and resecured them with original screws. I have a three inch lift with bil... 5100s and day star spacers front and back.

FJ Rear Axle Swap

The LSTJ is coming up and going “locker-less” wasn’t an option for me. So, started a search for a FJ eLocker third to switch over.. and what do you know. A Teacher at my High School just happens to have a 2011 FJ with the eLocker and matching 3.73 gears. And it gets better.. due to him having no clue what it did and never using it.. I’m swapping his whole axle over for only $400. :first: Doing the swap this weekend, will post pictures of the whole build.

That is some kind of luck there right.

AFE drop in (dry) air filter.

interior/exterior LED swap -- dome lights, license plate, running boards, doors, glovebox.

Did this on my 07 last night, easy swaps, somehow blew one fuse putting in one of the map lights. No big deal right? Pulled fuse, put it new one, no problem. Now car won't start, everything lights up, but when I go to start there is nothing.

Similar to when car is in gear and fail safe stops it from getting power.

Ideas?

None of that makes sense:
1) You shorted map bulb socket?
2) Which fuse did you find spent?
3) Starting and charging system uses different from interior light fuse. How in the world would one issue cause the other?

FJ Rear Axle Swap

So as I stated a couple days ago, I had a teacher at my school who has a 2007 FJ Cruiser with the factory eLocker in it. After bartering with him and claiming it for only $400, I couldn’t wait to get it put in mine for LSTJ. So out she came on Saturday and, due to the fact it’s his only vehicle and he was needing it back that night, it became a pretty stressful swap pretty quick. With his FJ on our lift, and my ‘05 V8 parked beside it, the swap began. After a quick check to make sure it worked, and a gear ratio check, the first major hurdle had been approached. If you’ve never dealt with this year model emergency brakes, really all I can say is get ready to get angry lol. Taking apart is much easier than remounting the little springs inside it. Once we had done the emergency brakes, a quick run through of unbolting links, sway bar, drive shaft and brake lines, out the axles came. Once under their new homes, reconnecting the links and brake lines was fairly easy. That’s until we got to the EBrake which is when things started to fall apart. After figuring out how to hold the springs inside it and finishing the teachers, my 4runners went much easier. After pretty much an all day job, we got my 4runner back to where it was driveable and will do wiring later. But to anyone who is wondering how hard an FJ eLocker retrofit our whole axle swap is, it can be done!!!!

That's interesting. I have no solution for you, but I ran into a similar issue. I swapped all of my interior lights to LED, and when I went to turn on the map lights, it blew the dome light fuse. Replaced the fuse and tried the other map light and blew the fuse again. Put the same exact LED into the door light, and it worked just fine. Put the old incandescent bulbs back in the map lights, and they worked just fine. For whatever reason, the map light sockets just didn't like the LED replacement bulbs.

Really liking what some of you guys are doing with the LED stuff. Going to try that.

I took the aluminum wheels off my 2018 SR5. Plastidipped them black while they were off the rig and then put them on the 2003 SR5 v8 truck that I bought new years ago. It really changed the look and I like it a lot. Didn't even change my alignment so it was a super cheap swap.

If you can find a cheap set of takeoffs, might be worth doing.

HCF Removal

Another one for the HC filter removal. Did it to the V6 yesterday and now get 21mpg on the freeway. Super easy and can be done in 10 minutes.
