I don't think I got anything in return for my baby-maker

If you ever want to go slightly larger in tire size, but not a full 35", I would consider getting 17" wheels. There are a handful of "in-between" sizes available for 17's that you can't get in a 16.

285/75r17 = 34"
305/70r17 = 34"
295/70r17 = 33.5"

Don't look at the fake beadlock ring as a bad thing. Consider it a ring that you can replace after a certain amount of rock rash.

Unfortunately SCS's beadlock ring is not replaceable, which will deter some potential buyers.


Good luck with the surgery and I'm assuming you and your wife aren't having any kids. Any reasoning behind that? I'm always curious why people don't have kids since having a child is the norm. You can PM me if you don't want to post it all over the internet.

We actually have 2 kids already! Most wouldn't guess because of my age but I have a 7 year old son and a 4 year old step daughter. I had my son at 19 as a result of well.... being young and dumb. His mom ran off when he was one and I haven't heard from her (probably for the best) in the last 6 years. I have full legal custody of my son. When he was born I went back to school (for automotive) at nights and was hired on at the shop that I'm still at. Through the help of great friends and family that aided me with care giving I both worked from 7am-5pm Mon-Fri and went to classes 6pm-10pm Mon-Fri for the first 2 years of his life. Then after completing school cut that down. It was an absolutely insane part of my life but also the part that I owe everything to today.

About 2 years ago I met the lovely lady who is now my wife and she came with the little girl who is now my step-daughter. Somewhat similar story with her.

We have both been extremely fortunate at being able to turn what initially seemed like a future killer into early success. We today live a very comfortable life, own a beautiful home, have fulfilling careers, and 2 happy kiddos.

In the end though we don't want to have any more kids. Besides.... getting them out of the house in my early 40s won't be so bad!

Nice, I guess I just never saw them in any photos. I have a daughter myself (3 in a month) and was a younger dad (23). I love being younger dad, although it is tough at times. I give you a huge props for taking on all that responsibility at such a young age and making it work. It's tough enough having two parents and being 6 years older than you were at the time. My brother had his first at 18 and second at 21, but is doing great and got the snip snip this last year at 34.

Met up with Gerdo today to pick up a Lil' Skip's fuel tank skid. He kindly modified it to work with my diff skid and sliders and the fit came out awesome. It was great to meet another forum member and I had a good time chatting with him while he worked away lol.

Just about done with armor I'm thinking.

More maintenance time.
My steering rack bushings were worn out allowing the rack to slide a bit (kinda feels like bad inner tie rods or in the rack) at first. But now we are all happy with super tight steering all over again. Replaced all bushings and sleeves.

Reworked this side to work with Shrockwork sliders





Gerdo reworked this corner to accommodate my bud built diff skid. He also reworked and welded the bracket to the skid in this corner as to eliminate the bolt/nut that usually sticks out. It came out incredibly clean and leaves plenty of room for articulation.

Don't take this the wrong way but with your mechanical abilities and access to a shop, why not build your own armor? I know mechanical abilities isn't the same as fabrication skills but usually if you're mechanically inclined then you'll have the attention to detail to build simple armor.

I want that skid! That looks nice, glad Gerdo was able to accommodate your existing armor. I'd say lets go wheeling, but I have no idea what shape Highway 14 is in.

Now you just need those bumpers...

Ya man it turned out great, can't wait to beat it on something lol.

I'm working on siders right now. They're simple and low profile. I will start some skid plates soon. My idea with my runner is to armor the snot out of it and keep it low. I will try and fit the bigget tires I can while using a minimal amount of lift.
