Spent most of the weekend with the 4runner and backpack like usual. The wife and I drove up the 4x4 trail which ends at the trail head for Kelly and Ruby Jewel Lakes near Walden, CO. We were the only ones to reach the actual trail head in a vehicle so that was exciting.
Then we hiked in 6 miles to just above tree line before dropping into the lake nestled between the mountains at 11,000 feet. We spent Saturday night there and had a grand old time fishing and enjoying nature. There is a large glacier on the mountain side there year round and the water was so clear you could watch the fish go about their business.

Keep an eye out man they pop up. My wife found that one on craigslist never used for $150 lol and right before my birthday. Its the Fly Creek UL2 and usually around $370. Really nice light weight backpacking tent. Right now I'm looking for a Big Agnes Flying Diamond 8 tent for some family camping and winter 4Runner camping but that is proving even harder to find.

Thanks man! Lol You've got a ton of jealousy inducing goodies on yours. Always good to hear a kind word from the guys who's build threads I've spent too many hours staring at.

Nice find on the supercharger. You are right, it's not a street racer but what a difference vs stock. Those pics of the family are what its all about. I see the young one could use a bigger shovel or winch. No given up there.....:trophy:

Next time your in the back country, chop down one of those money trees and spread the love. ray2:

Lol its easy being married to someone who actually insisted I supercharge the 4Runner and who's list of things she wants me to do include build an off road trailer (Dirtco style). It doesn't hurt that she looks better than every girl in the automotive program when I went to college for it lol.

But it sure does hurt that she is a much better welder than me. (her degree is in collision repair). Honestly if I ever publish pictures of welding that I supposedly did.... it will likely be her work.

We got married 2 years ago and to keep it automotive related I'll introduce you to her (Lindsey) and my other girl "Caddy"

Took two longtime friends up to Steamboat Springs over the weekend. Carried a total of 4 people (including myself), 2 dogs, and a ton of gear. 4Runner did great as usual and found enough time to run Hahns Peak trail in between hikes. Simply gorgeous.



Next Saturday until Tuesday we'll spend 3 nights backpacking in Colorado's Rawah Wilderness. Stoked!

Had to get an emissions test recently and figured I'd share my readings.

awww awww awww.... i love my fiance for the same reason, shes a hard worker and into fixing things! so i have been scavenging craigslist for some sort of bumper and or supercharger for mine. DARN you for finding one so cheep. Looks good man!

That makes her a keeper. I got married a few months ago and I love how much SHE loves the 4Runner. She always points out 3rd gens on the highway and particularly if they are extra clean, modified in some way, or have supercharged badges on them. That's how I knew I picked the right girl, haha.

Now get that supercharger on.

Man those turned out sweeeeeet!!! Thank you so much! We had a great time meeting, wheeling, and hanging out with all of you guys and will hopefully do some more or each in the future.

just read through your build... not gonna lie, i got a lot of jelly feelings right now -about the rig itself, and the goodies on it. i like where you are going with it. i need to get out to CO to do some wheeling and exploring you guys have a ton of great places to wheel.

keep up the progress im gonna sub to this build for inspiration

Thanks a lot man! Didn't you get a Safari LTD steering rack? Just curious what your opinions were on it if so because I'm in the market for a rack and tossing this or OEM around.

I'm actually trying to make it up to the north west to check out Washington and Oregon for some backpacking hopefully next spring. Colorado is beautiful though and offers an overwhelming amount of trails and good times. Let me know if you make it out!

No kidding man, sharing hobbies and interests with the wife makes everything way better and results in more time spent together and just a better relationship all the way around. I'm glad to hear you've met your match!
