Ebay Remote Start using OEM Fob

I came across this tonight... did a quick search here and didn't see it. This unit supposedly allows you to use your OEM fob to start the car by pressing the lock button twice. Anyone use this? For $100 it seems like it's worth a shot.

I was close to buying this morning but was reading through some of the details and it seems we would also need a transponder override module, which is another $60. That's not bad, but I'm not sure if I'm up for bypassing that feature on my 4R. Hmmmm.... do the OEM aftermarket remote start products do this as well?

I have not pulled the trigger yet. I did some reading though and was surprised to find that it's quite common to have to bypass the ignition transponder for a lot of aftermarket alarms and remote starters. I'm still on the fence with this one, but I'll let you know if I get it.

easiest way to bypass the immobilizer is to use either a DEI db-all or an audiovox FL-can; if I understand this correctly, we don't lose a key and is pretty simple to install since all you basically need to hook up is a couple wires to the transponder antenna and the CANBUS signal at the obd2 port and it will read pretty much all the triggers and pins off the canbus instead of going around and manually tapping each wire. At least I hope so...I will let you know how my db-all install goes when I get around to installing it later this month.

Yeah, they sell an override module too. I'm not sure if one is better than the other but they are all priced similarly. Between the tires and Air Lift purchases this week I think I've been naughty enough for someone that's not doing any modding, so I'm going to wait on this. Plus if I sneak in one more purchase it will be the heated seats. :naughty:
