Yeah I paid just over two weeks ago, haven’t heard anything since......figured I’d give it another weeks or so.

The box the shipped the rack in doesn’t looks very long LOL are the side rails not on piece? Or are there (hopefully) two different boxes?

I got my order and it’s no where near correct. I ordered the rack with 2 extra cross bars, and what I got was a tray, 2 cross bars, 1 front wind deflector, and 2 rear logo rack pieces. No side pieces for the rack, and no extra 2 rails. Also no hardware.:noidea:

Looks like your right, there is 2 orders. Problem is, it says that it’s “Processed at Caracas - Venezuela”. It says this for the last week. Looks like they might be having issues with shipping again.

The recent posts ARE from the current group buy. As far as I know there is only one going on at the moment.

Here's an email I got from Ecotechne today.

I hope this email finds you well. We’d like to provide you with a status update on the Rack shipment via DHL. DHL has recently encountered unforeseen delays resulting from shipments containing contraband that have originated in Venezuela. We have been informed by DHL that every package will now be searched to ensure that no contraband is found. This search will greatly affect the delivery schedule. DHL is unable to provide an ETA of shipment delivery.

To remediate the situation, EcoTechne will be pulling all shipments from DHL. All packages will be shipped via FedEx and a tracking number will be generated and provided to our customers. We greatly appreciate your patience during this time and sincerely apologize for this unforeseen delay.

We encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns. Thank you again, and have a wonderful day.

My second package has been sitting in Venezuela for 2 weeks. I think that’s what they are talking about. I just hope I get everything I ordered. I’m not feeling very confident considering I got 2 rear sections.

What are people using for Hi Lift mounts, and how are you mounting them? I’ve tried 3 times to email Ecotechne, and they say they make a hi lift mount, but they never tell me how to get one, they just ignore the email at that point.:noidea::noidea:

From what I understand, these might be a little tougher to get parts for than other racks since the crossbars are a little more unique (sheet metal stringer). If you have no luck with EcoTechne you might want to try fabbing up your own or talk to a fabrication shop. I think someone had luck with adapting universal mounts?

I got two new FedEx tracking numbers today, with the optimistic delivery dates for this Friday (though from what I can tell, they're still in Caracas). Fingers crossed I guess!

Purchasing Ecotechne Full Roof Rack

I am having trouble figuring out a way to purchase 5th Gen Ecotechne Full Roof Rack. Can anyone help me find a group buy or a website? I visited the main Venezuelan site but cannot figure out how to purchase. I really hope someone can help out here I love their roof racks and 4 Runner accessories.

That's sort of the tough thing about these racks. There's no direct way to purchase online as far as I can tell. You may be able to email them and request one. So far it seems the best way is to sign up for one of these group buys by private messaging Rorck, the OP. Sometimes he doesn't respond right away, so keep trying. If you're lucky, you'll get some info back on making a Paypal payment to him which presumably gets passed on to EcoTechne to make and ship racks in bulk for a discounted price. After dropping a healthy chunk of change, you wait patiently as they try to manufacture the racks. Then they battle shipping and customs in a country torn by extreme poverty and runaway currency inflation.

Then if you're lucky some more, you'll get a correct amount of parts in a large box after a while. This is your roof rack and you can try assembling it. Oh, and you may have issues with the powdercoat finish (it's flaky and comes off easily, according to some). You might decide to refinish it at your expense. It sounds like most others also opt to replace the hardware with stainless bolts, to prevent rust.

But it is a cool looking rack, ruggedly built, and the price is pretty good considering what you get. Just don't expect to get one in time if you have a deadline to meet.
