Ok guys, I'm new to doing things the right way but my 4runner is going to be different. I am going to be running a 41" light bar, two small led duallys, a cb and would like to have some room to grow. I wanted to get some input from yall as to whether or not my setup is going to be sufficient.

I plan on using:

relays, amperage and quantity depend on accessory requirements

1 blue seas fuse block with 6 outputs

RadioShack project box to hold relays

FJ fog switches for lights

Is there anything special to note about using these things together, where should I wire in my relays? I want to keep this as clean and professional looking as possible.

Before we go any farther I have searched but can't seem to find anything that describes everything and I do not want to miss something and have issues down the road.

why if you are using relays?
RadioShack project box to hold relays
again why? relays can be mounted in a row and next to brake booster
FJ fog switches for lights
why when you can order tons of choices from otrattw.com

If anyone has added in a bunch of lights, and electrical stuff...its me LOL

My electrical specs:

one 41" LED light bar on roof 240w = 20amps
six 3" Hamma HLM-1212 16w = 1.3 amps
one Rigid Industries Dually D2 52111 Wide 34.5w = 2.85amps
one Rigid Industries Dually D2 52311 Driving 34.5w = 2.85amps
Four 55watt ballasts for Quad BiXenon Retrofit 55w = 4.5amps x 4 = 18amps
one Engo 12" LED Lightbar EN-JT-1372 72watt = 6amps
Warn VR10,000 Winch
ViAir 400C compressor 1 gallon air tank and train horns


How its wired?
-41" and one set of 3" hamma 20+1.3=21.3 total amps on one relay with a 20amp fuse
-Rigid D2 on one relay with 5 amp fuse
-Engo 12" bar with one set of 3" hamma on one relay, 6+1.3amps on a 7.5amp fuse
-four 55w ballasts all going thru OEM wiring using stock fuses
-one 3" hamma in useless reflectors in the rear bumper with a 5 amp fuse on another relay
-winch....a way a winch is normally wired LoL

Electrical Upgrades:
-alternator stock
-battery Stinger SPP1700 super duper big battery LOL

I hope this gives you a start in plotting out your electrical path ways

Do you wire all of your positive power into your battery? Doesn't that make the positive terminal of the battery a little bit overcrowded? I was thinking is there some devices like an extension with a lot of positive outlets where you could hook up directly into the battery, then the device provides power outlets to connect all the lights into?

That was why I wanted to use the Blue Seas fuse block, the relays are just there to keep me from accidentally leaving lights or something on when my truck is off, the project box is to keep them hidden, the blue seas block serves as a central point for fusing all of my accessories as well as a junction for all of the wiring.

Nope. You dont have to run each and every positive lead to the battery.

I have it run like this.

-winch on a 4awg ring terminal on positive
-power for my stereo is on a 4awg ring terminal on positive terminal
-power for all the other accessories is running thru 4 awg ring terminal to a regular 4awg glass 40amp GSE fuse, on the other end 2 8awg power leads going to my relays.
as you can see from my diagram.


sounds complicated and you would think it looks like crap. LoL, well here's pictures of my truck just now. went outside to take it for your viewing pleasure HAHAHA



ran my power cable to my amp over to the passenger side and went in that side.

put it like this, the bluesea fuse box thing is great for little diy add ons. I'm talking about some decent power hungry stuff here. i think the blue sea fuse box would probably melt from the current running thru it. look at the tiny little terminals 14-22awg max ring terminals.

if i was a DIY, i would buy one of these to distribute the power.

Thanks for the info Steve. Your engine bay looks much nicer than mine and I only have 1 pair of HID lights, 1 pair of LED, 1 pair of baja designs lapaz, and 1 pair of DRL.

How did you split the 8 gauge wire into two 16 gauge wires? do you have another fuse there too?

How did you split the 8 gauge wire into two 16 gauge wires? do you have another fuse there too?

split wiring is easy. cut and splice and solder and tape. key is use good solder and even better tape. super 33 from 3m comes to mind. then some loom and zip ties to clean it off.

I think this is where we are butting heads. Im not running anything too power hungry as the item with the most current draw only pulls 12 amps. The blue seas block can handle 30A per circuit and a total of 100A. So if I throw a thermal circuit breaker in between the block an the battery I should be good to go right?
