It seems like I read somewhere, I think it was on TundraSolutions forum, that sometime in the future the Sequoia will use the Landcruiser platform without all of the luxury appointments and start at a lower price point.
End of the line for T4R?

That would be incredible. The current gen LC is exactly the size of SUV I really want, something between the current Sequoia and the 4Runner with a big engine minus the 85K price tag.

Don't think they would ever move the sequoia to LC frame. They would want to keep sequoia built in Texas and I'm sure the bones of the LC would not be made here. Also would assume it would only have 4.6l v8. Same reason 4R gets v6 and gx gets v8. I've also heard sequoia would be discontinued. Last note tundra 2nd gen was 07 with sequoia coming in 08. So if new sequoia happened it would probably come in '15. My 2 cents.

You could be right, but the LC is an internationally sold platform much like the 4Runner, which the Sequoia is not. And the LC is already being sold here and around the world in many different forms, so it makes sense to just offer a de-contented, lower priced full size V8 SUV, badged as a Land Cruiser Sequoia. But, this is Toyota, so you never know where the Sequoia will end up.

Having worked for for Toyota Motor Sales for over 20 years, I know for a FACT that TMS consults dealership employees on customer feedback. And YES they do hold meetings in dealerships to discuss future products & designs with dealership personnel.

Considering the current LC200 inherited a fully boxed version of the Tundra frame (ahem!) it's not much of a stretch at all.
Having to listen to the stupid from sales people at dealerships, as an engineer, has to be one of the worst jobs in the world.

That site is great. I just checked the Camry sales total there and over the years they sell 450,000-500,00 a year. I imagine Corolla is the same. Toyota is a high volume manufacturer and I do not know how much longer they will continue making a model that only sells 47,000 a year. Maybe as long a we are willing to pay top dollar for them and they do not spend money on 6-8 speed transmissions etc. they will continue to produce them till they are no longer profitable.
I checked the Pathfinder sales on that site. Everyone here including me complained about how bad they are no longer being body on frame. Guess what sales doubled or tripled after going to unibody. You know Toyota is looking at this and will follow the big sale numbers.

Info about future plans of vehicles are always general in nature. The car biz is very secretive.

Whatever the next design is going to be it is probably already a done deal. It takes 3-4 years from engineering a new design to getting it to production. We just will not hear about it for 3-4 years. Jeep has even stated in some magazines that the next Wrangler will probably not be solid axles front and rear any more. They are just to heavy and fuel economy has to improve to keep the corporate fuel economy in check.

I can assure you my panties are quite smooth and unruffled. I have no doubt that Toyota routinely contacts dealerships for customer feedback and that they do hold meetings to discuss future products and designs. That has nothing to do with the subject at hand and there is no way Toyota is prematurely discussing the termination of the 4runner line in the same year they just tooled up a mid year redesign.
Most sales people at dealerships know almost nothing about the products they sell. Their is a tendency to mix up details on two similar vehicles they sell - like the FJ, which has been terminated this year. They also have a tendency to fabricate evidence to support their claims from innuendo and rumor, occasionally sprinkled w/ idiotic poorly written pieces from the internet that are so painful to read that only a moron would believe they were credible.
