Engine issues?

I threw some money at it, but the problem still exists.

I have tried the following:
-1 bottle of Redline Fuel System Cleaner in gas tank
-New air filter
-Cleaned MAF
-New Spark Plug Cables (NGK)
-Check TPS

My next step is going to be to pull out the spark plug coils and boots and look for possible burn spots on the boots to see if arcing is occurring through them. Still not throwing a code so it's not misfiring enough to trigger the ecu, but happening every few minutes for sure. I would best describe the action as a hiccup and I have only noticed it while driving. Car seems to idle smoothly.

Also going to take the truck in to get codes read to see if any where thrown without turning on the check engine light. If I can pinpoint the misfire, then I can test the injector resistance and rule out a bad injector.
 
I'm having a similar issue, but mine is I get that symptom and I check spark plugs, and they are fouled. Replace, Rinse, repeat. I have compression at about 150 across the board. No leaks, and plug smelled like fuel, I'm not getting ANY vacuum from my intake to my regulator causing my fuel pressure to sky rocket to almost 50 PSI, and I'm getting fuel spitting into the small vacuum hose. (Small amount) I hook a vacuum gun to it and pump that up to about 21 and he pressure drops to 37 PSI. So my culprit is excessive fuel pressure which was too much for plugs to burn on normal driving and stock plugs, so they foul. Maybe check there? Keep poking around with fuel delivery. I would definitely check fuel pressure and make sure it's not randomly cutting out. If not then go electrical. Harbor freight sells an incredibly useful tool that hooks from the wire to the plug with a light inside of the tool to check and see if your wires are giving a signal.

Looks like this, metal end goes in the wire where the plug usually goes, and the rubber part goes on the plug. Then start the truck, the light flashes with every signal from the wire. I know it's harbor freight but overused it to check signal many times with no issues. GL

I had a similar problem. My truck idles smooth as silk, but at about 3000 RPM the engine would hiccup noticeably. Sometimes the check engine light would flash. Pulled out the spark plug to cylinder 5 and found carbon tracking. Kind of looks like someone drew a line with a black pencil across your plug.

Cleaned the plug and the inside of the boot with some WD-40 and haven't seen any issues since. I ordered new coil pack boots just to be safe and figured I should replace all three.

Arcing can come from bad boots, or from oil that leaks into the spark plug hole. Are there any oil leaks from the engine? If that's the case, could be bad valve cover gaskets.

Nonetheless, if you can isolate a cylinder, or if you decide to just check all 6, could definitely be an arcing problem with one of the plugs.
 
Unfortunately, this sounds exactly like my Pickup with the 3.0L. I had replaced the distributor (went bad), cap and rotor, spark plugs, plug wires, injectors, TPS, ECT sensor, cleaned throttle body, used every chemical and cleaner known to man... and it never went away.

You might be chasing this one for a long, long time. It's a rare issue for toyotas but a hard one. On mine my engine would actually shut off for a second, it would even clear check engine lights. So be mindful of that, you might actually have a check engine light pending but the "jerk" might be clearing it every time.
 
My "chaseing my tail" issue was the engine would just shit off, would turn over and everything just wouldn't startup again. Long story short the power wire to the fuel injection in the engine wire harness had come loose, your issue doesn't sound like mine, but just trying to say is it's usually an easy fix, just figuring it out is the PIA!
 
Had this issue on my dad's 00.. changed everything, turned out to be a bad fuel injector and solenoid in the valve body. Could have been either or, but we narrowed it down to those two and just fixed both issues at hand. Never happened again.
 
If you have a way to hook a scanner up to it to monitor which cyl is misfiring, do that, and swap injectors. Like, say cyl 1 is misfiring and cyl 3 is at 0 misfires, take the cyl 1 injector and swap it with the injector from cyl 3, if the misfire follows the swap, that's your issue. The noise somewhat sounds like a top end tick (last time any head work was done, or adjusted valves???) also if you just want to pinpoint the noise and think it's an injector, try getting a really long screwdriving and putting it against the injector and see if you can her the tick through the driver. It's kind of redneck but shit it works.
 
Fixed!

Thanks for the help guys, I pulled out all the injectors and one of them was way out of spec so I swapped the inejctors and the engine isn't hiccuping any more! Hopefully this thread can help the next person with the same problems.
