Yeah, the jiggle valve goes at 6 o'clock. I am going to create a thread to remind people about this because some manuals say 12 o'clock. I would have never had known mine was wrong except for the scangauge since the factory gauge is worthless. I went from 205 to 194 just from flipping the thermostat.

SO....something is definitely not right with my cooling system, driving home today it was 100 degrees, going 55 MPH I was sitting at 205. That is not right.
I have confirmed I have a 170 degree T-stat, but I am going to go ahead and replace it, cheap enough. What is the correct position for the little jiggle switch?
205 is not bad. I wouldn't worry about it. I think you should worry if it is above 240 degrees. Antifreeze when pressurized will boil at 270 degrees.
Oil breaks starts to break down at 260 degrees and is even higher for synthetic.
So, that being said. I would worry when the needle gets into the red.

Yea I hear ya, but if everyone else can keep theres at 190 then I should be able to as well!

Keep in mind that most people don't have a Super charger mounted and that most of those don't have the 7th injector with a piggy back programmer.
If you want to try something quick and easy. Try a water wetter. It supposed to make water more conductive of heat. It might lower your temps 10 degrees.

I have all of that and I run in the mid-high 180s.. in new mexico.
New radiator, 170* thermostat, and a bottle of water wetter.

I just checked my T-stat and the jiggle valve was at 12, moved it down to the 6 o'clock. Will be interested to see what happens, just need to run down to Carquest for coolant.

I wonder how many T-stats get improperly position in Tbelt replacement and the like? I guess don't deviate from the FSM.

The real question is what caused the lower temp?
Installing a new thermostat
Installing it with the flippy pointing down.
Flushing the Radiator.
Using the Water Wetter.
Or that the weather has dropped from 100+ to the 80's.
Keep us udated how it performs . We are suposed yo have 100 + degree weather the next couple of days,

I can tell you that switching that jiggle valve alone on mine dropped it 10 degrees. I even reused most of the antifreeze. I did it before the heat wave hit last week so that rules that out. I really don't have any idea why that jiggle valve is that important.

I hit 232 on the highway with the AC blasting and I was real worried. Turned the AC off and it fell real quick, but still stayed around 210 (it was about 105). However I'm running an ARB with lightforces plus winch control box so I'm sure that blocks incoming air flow. I should've thought about the water wetter, definitely gonna pick some up ASAP!!

Well the only other thing that changed was adding Water Wetter, which IMO is snake oil, maybe it works, but not to the tune of 15+ degrees, hell it only claims 10.
The coolant that was in the radiator was less than a month old, and I put the new stuff in at the same proportion; 75/25

So the temperatures are great on the highway, but I was noticing today coming to a stop at a light temperatures climbed FAST, I was up to 212, from 188 in a matter of seconds. First thought was the fan clutch. I get home leave the car running at idle, temp is at 215, the engine fan is hardly turning, get a SINGLE leaf of newspaper stick it to the fan and it stops with very little resistance.
So, anyone know of a cheap place to get it? Should I go Toyota OEM or try to just find an Aisin one to save some money?

There is Hayden 2671, found locally for about $120 or $70 on Amazon.
That said, I'd spring for the Aisin. I think Durk and others has posted that the best price can be gotten at partsgeek.com.

If I had one, he could have it but the fan clutch gets wrecked in most front end accidents.
FWIW, I run 3 electric fans and never have any cooling issues. I thought DOUS had some electric fans too. I would check to make sure that they were wired right, and the fan blades installed in the correct orientation.
