I sold my Trail today so probably won't be around here much anymore but wanted to wish you all the best and thank you for all the knowledge we have shared and fun I have had here.

I'm not for the time being.

Loved the 4Runner but only put 7k miles on it in two years (I work from home) so it's an awfully expensive vehicle to have sitting in the garage collecting dust.

I sold it to a dealers acquisition department and got damn near what I paid for it so figured the time was right. And didn't have to screw around with looky-lou's.

Eventually I think I'd like to find a clean older Tacoma as it always seems I need a bed to haul stuff but would want some that has already passed through the depreciation curve for the most part.

I WFH too but I made the 4Runner our primary vehicle. Ive been eyeing an older 4R or Tacoma too. Haven't found anything to make me jump yet though.
 
Reminds me of a co-worker that sold his Subaru Impreza WRX. He said the dealer called him up and asked if he wanted to sell. I said yeah everybody gets that, he said, yeah I got almost list for it, and I paid less than list for it. Might have been right after the earthquake in Japan.

Right now everybody is SUV crazy, there's an article on thetruthaboutcars.com about some Ford electric is the cheapest car ....

The Ford Focus Electric is Now the Cheapest Car in America

Maybe you should buy one of those, then wait for gas prices to go up again, then sell it and buy a 4Runner.

Thanks for all the nice words from all of you. This forum is definitely one of the best I have ever belonged to.

I don't really need to leave the site per se and would be happy to give advice where I can. Selling the 4Runner was more of a consolidation move - multiple vehicles and the 4Runner is the one that by far had the greatest residual value of what I own so was really the logical choice.

I will be honest in saying my TE was perfect in all aspects - I babied it, but I was even a little surprised at how much I got for it. There is no doubt these things hold their value very, very well. The 5th gen probably held it's value better than any other vehicle I have owned.

My GF and I are planning on moving to Texas at some point here in the next year or so, so I am starting to consolidate and sell stuff that I can live without so I can walk into the Lone Star state with a fat wad of cash for our dream property. :-)

Well, where you live is part of the equation. In Colorado 4Runners and Subaru's are hugely popular due to the weather. Add a fairly high average income into the mix and it can be a sellers market on popular vehicles and nice homes.

All that said I went through KBB and got an instant cash offer. I just don't like dealing with selling vehicles privately because for every qualified buyer you get three wannabe's and I don't like wasting my time. Questionable credit, non-cash buyers, etc... I just don't have time for that crap.

With the acquisition through the KBB dealer network I sold it for $3.1K less than I paid for it exactly two years ago. Not bad depreciation and way better than most vehicles. Try that on a Chrysler/Jeep or GM product - not happening.

No hassles. And I was in and out of the dealership in an hour.

Now keep in mind, my vehicle was perfect. No door dings, no scratches, smelled new inside, non-smoker, etc.. so I would consider it the cream of the crop as far as the acquisition process is concerned.

You can go to KBB.com and enter your info and get a guaranteed cash price. I had four dealers call me within a day and sold to the first dealer as their price was spot on.
