just taking a wild stab in the dark there. otherwise, the only option is to remove the app from the phone, phone from the vehicle and vehicle from the phone, reboot the phone and then re-install the app, and re-pair the phone and vehicle from scratch.


How to restart/reboot iphone :

1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
3. After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.

That would be correct. I open the Entune app suite on my phone (iPhone 6, up to date firmware), wait until the bluetooth has connected fully, then try the different apps that I have accounts with (logged in through the entune app on my phone, of course).

Are you connected to the USB? iPhone requires cable connection unless you have a data plan that allows your phone to be a wireless hotspot, and then you can do this to have the entune apps work without the cable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5C50FsFMi0

It's not a major deal for me though, as long as I can use the backup camera/satellite radio/bluetooth audio for podcasts and spotify/occasional nav I'm fine.

Bluetooth settings. Touch the exclamation point on the 4runner. Turn on notifications. Keep in mind they will only show up when you are parked otherwise it will read them to you.

On the phone, in the Bluetooth settings for your 4Runner setup, if you tap the circle with the i in it, there's an option that says Show Notifications. Slide that on. That will probably fix the problem.

Entune navigation map updates

I recently took delivery of a 2015 TE with Entune. The map database is over a year old. How do map database updates happen? I can't find anything in the head unit settings or the Entune phone app to download new map updates.

I've installed latest versions of software from Entune and Apple. I've disconnected, removed, reinstalled, re-booted, re-paired the devices so many times it's ridiculous. I finally went to the dealer this morning and had the software checked to ensure all is up to date.

In short... As long as I don't drive the vehicle, everything works- phone, messaging, audio streaming, Entune Pandora & iHeart, etc. Once I'm moving, all is great until I hang up from my first call (doesn't matter if I place the call or receive it.) About 10 seconds after the call, all Bluetooth connectivity from the 4Runner is dropped. The iPhone still thinks it's connected, but the vehicle phone and any streaming audio is toast... Until I stop and re-pair or turn off/on to re-pair.

The only partial solution I've found is to disconnect my Bluetooth audio player function immediately when it pairs with my 4Runner thereby leaving only my phone function paired. Doing this enables it to stay "phone connected" while moving... But damn... Now I'm required to rip my music to a USB rather than stream from phone because I'm disabling the audio player function.

Has anyone else had this funky issue? Any ideas on how to correct?

That's a weird issue. I have a iPhone 6 Plus neither my 15 limited is have no issues. When I first got the car there was a update to the system. I installed that and all has been fine.

I think you can restore the entune back to factory defaults. That might help.

Hand cash to your dealer for the annual update. It's not updateable via the methods this thread discusses. Keep in mind, the data is the same Navteq data that Garmin uses. The POI data is not nearly as complete as the Garmin and at best you pay for one update a year that's already out of date. That's crazy. Therefore I use a 7" Garmin Nuvi 2757 and it's updated quarterly for free. I can do a ton of things with it that you could never do with an up to date in-dash nav.

Welcome to the world of in-dash Nav. It's lousy on all car makers. This is not new news. It's also been discussed a lot here.

Entune is possibly the worst designed car stereo/app system to ever be put in a car. I just don't understand how they can even be serious when showing it to people every year and be happy. A first gen iPhone is better than this stupid thing.

My 2014 Camry I could adjust when the locks close at speed, auto unlock and lock when in and out of park. But not on the 4Runner.

I rented a 2013 Prius and it showed the tired pressure on the dash, but not on the 4Runner or Camry. How can this NOT be on the 4Runner?

All their car models have a different version of Entune all over the world and it makes no sense at all. That is one of their problems is making too many versions to keep it up to date all at once.

Whomever designs this thing should just put their hands on their head squeeze until it pops.

I can only assume that the Micro SD card installed in the dash can be copied and shared easily between people. If I get the update I am going to torrent it out for everyone so Toyota is forced to make it update for free. Absolutely a 1998 move on their part to not partner with a company that already does NAV. They make their own crap and it will never be anywhere near what Garmin.

I have Igo Primo on my Dad's $162 Chinese radio and it's better than this, by far. I drove from Massachusetts to the Grand Canyon and up through Moab and Colorado for a total of 6170 miles...and I ended up using Waze. That's how much the Nav pissed me off.

To the best of my knowledge, you are SOL with the maps unless you want to go to the stealership and pay them a lot of money. That's why a lot of us don't rely solely on the built in Nav.

I know right! I can't believe you don't get a free update for this stuff while the truck is still under 3/36 warranty. I bet someone savvy enough could claim that the Nav has old information therefore making it hazardous/dangerous.
