*EPIC TRIP* Taking my Trail on the Trail!!

Hello all, my name's Will I'm 29 and live in Columbia SC. I have been planning a trip since 2012 to travel across the US camping and Off-roading and I came across what's called the Trans America Trail. The TAT goes from NC to OR majority is off road. I have decided that I will quit my job and just do it!! So this month is the time!! I have had a few set backs during the past 4yrs however the biggest came on St Patrick's day when I wrecked a motorcycle breaking 4ribs, collarbone, collapsed lung, and internal bleeding. I'm glad that I'm still here!! So with that I will be leaving as planned in the month of April just a little further out. I will be camping out of the truck and tent the majority of the time. The caveat to the whole thing is, I've never been camping!!! This will be an epic adventure and I invite everyone to follow along if you'd like. Have a great and safe trip. (As a dog guy I think Storm would enjoy it too.)

There's nothing like a cross country trip...whether on foot, motorcycle or other vehicle. 'Bout time for me to plan our next journey. Thanks for the inspiration. :tea:
 
Happy driving! Have fun, and definitely post up about your journey, pictures for sure!

With a family it's mostly glamping for me but with a proper sleeping pad and bag for conditions I think I could travel pretty far with just my jetboil and a decent cooler...
 
I have no idea what the route of the TAT is, but if it goes thru northern Nevada I wouldn't mind doing part of it with you.

The longest totally off-road trek I have done was in 2006 from north east CA across NV and ending up in north west UT. 5 days and about 600 miles. Have fun.

Definitely will. I think the Trail will be in and out of little towns so it won't be complete wilderness (I'm thinking!!!) But I fee l the same.

Sounds great, I will actually be starting around Andrews NC. More than likely I will book it through the Southeast since I'm leaving 10 days late and I explore here any time

This weekend picked up a few things and arranged what I have tested out the new stove.

Getting ever so close to leaving and looking forward to the trip.

I'm trying to figure out if I want to get a cooler or an inexpensive car fridge? Any suggestions?? Don't really want to spend too much cash, after all I am quiting my job!!!

What you can't see in this pic is I also got some screen and cut it to fit around the rear windows with some magnets. I'll mock it up tomorrow and shoot some pics.

I wish I could lay in the back of my 4R. My feet get jammed on the door. :(
 
I would look at changing those coat hangers to some d rings and make a net up there for additional soft storage. Just an idea
