Exhaust Ideas for 22re

Right now, I have the stock exhaust manifold on my newly rebuilt 22re. It goes down to the cat and the line is cut there (no muffler). I do not have to follow any emissions test because of where I live in Oregon, so I was curious what would be the best way to get the most out of my motor as it pertains to the the exhaust.

To be more specific,
1. Is there any benefit to keeping the cat?

2.I want a muffler, any kind better than another?

3.Is a header worth the $?

I did the full LCE set up. Not worth the money. Just the header itself is about $400. Just do a nice catback at 2" diameter and use the money saved to make sure your gears and tire size match up. The right gear set will affect your drivability the most.

stock manifold 2 inch all the way and a magnaflow single in and out muffler.
if you want a header just get the pacesetter the 600$ headers dont do anything for the 22re

Gears and tires are good (35s with 5 29s). Header is officially out of the question. Thanks guys

i put a ceramic pacesetter on one of my 22re's and it was a noticeable improvement in the mid and upper ranges, i think it was like $250 for the header? idk i cant remember for sure.

I am about to buy one for mine soon. My exhaust manifold is cracked yet again :dammit:
