Exhaust piping question

I have 2 quick questions.

Is anyone running a one piece transmission and transfer case skid plate? If so, does the exhaust cross pipe get in the way?

For those with aftermarket mufflers, is there any reason why I couldn't run a muffler that had offset inlet and outlet?

I'm going to assume you're talking about your 2005, so I'm moving this to the proper section.

Nobody has a 1 piece transmission and transfer skid because nobody sells one, it would be twice as heavy making it way harder to remove, and if one part of it dented or broke you would have to replace the whole thing.

Most aftermarket skids that I have seen space the skids down far enough to where they clear the exhaust crossover. My brother and I both have had the crossover re-routed up higher and 2 of the cats removed by an exhaust shop so we could make skid plates nice and flat with the frame crossmember. RCI skidplates fit fine with the stock exhaust, and its smooth and flat with the rest of their skid plates. All of the plates sit right on the cross members- I was surprised that they didn't need the exhaust bump like my 2nd gen Tacoma did.

Thanks for the replies. We're making custom armor. 1 piece IFS and transmission skid with a 1 piece center diff skid. Everything will be 1/4" steel
