Extended/High articulation CV Axle

Any updates on how these do off road. In the rocks. ?

So far they haven't missed a beat. They're doing what they are supposed to. I don't have. Ton of miles on them, but we do thrash on it when we do.

I don't have a front locker yet if that matters to you for comparison.

The shafts do rust though. Maybe some paint when they're new would be in order. Overall i'd buy them again.

Mine are rusting as well. They're nice and shiny out of the box but I suspect they give the shafts a light coat of oil and that's it. If you don't want them to rust then expect to degrease/clean them, mask off the rubber boots and portion that will be in the wheel bearing/axle, and then paint with a chassis paint or similar.

Is anyone running into rubbing issues with these axles paired with larger 2.5" coilovers?


Or maybe a link to a thread where anyone mentions it?

A bit disconcerting

Installed these axles a little while ago. Was underneath to top off front diff fluid I’d lost during installation and noticed the driver side dush shield was out about a mil from the diff. They were both seated FLUSH to the diff when installed.

Anyone experienced this? Will be pulling the spindle and trying to knock it back in this weekend. Don’t think they should have that kind of movement in under 500mi since installation.

The metal dust shield on the inside of the CV keeps large debris from contacting the diff/seal, as long as it's not flopping around loose it's good, don't mind the gap

Man, those really don't have shit for a perch to knock them out do they... Wonder how you get them out after they've been in for a year or two and start fighting you

They both have about mill of play. I felt like an idiot for not checking the passenger side for play before dropping the spindle and pulling everything apart. They're both seated, no chattering or anything. Have spoken to others who've been running them a while and they've the same play

just pull off the dust cover and you can make good purchase to pry from. so im told.

These have been out for a few years; plenty of people run them with 2.5's.

Thanks for the heads up. I've researched them off and on for the past couple years, and I swear every person I've seen with them is running Bilsteins. lol So it's good to know that they're working well for you with your 2.5's.


Mine showed up today, and hopefully I'll be able to find some time to install them soon.

Could be worse, everyone out here runs old OEM shocks with spacers :lmao:

Just buy some quality coilovers, or just keep it completely stock

I got rid of that 4R almost 2 years ago, but did put it through its paces having been one of the first to buy into those CV axles

My old 4R with a wheel a good 4 and a half feet off the ground lol

Got home yesterday and saw a puddle of guck under the passenger side. Quick look and it's finally my turn, inner cv boot finally failed after 22 years. Mine is tearing right at the clamp that holds it to the axle. I'm planning to do a temp repair just to keep grease from flinging all over until I can get parts and time to fix it in the next couple weeks.

So either reboot or upgrade. Found these Trakmotive TO8043XTT axles at Rock Auto. Is that still the right part? Says it is but you never know till you know.

When I bought mine from Rockauto, they were called TO8043ET. But I think it's the same thing as TO8043XTT. I've had them on for a while, no issues at all.

Looking at Trakmotive's website/online catalog, the new part # is now TO8043XTT as mentioned. Same part, new name. Probably some refinements as well because reasons.

If it was my grandpa, he'd use a plastic vegetable bag and some paracord and it would be good for another 10 years or so...

Silicone self fusing tape might work for a bit, but its expensive for a band aid.

The silicone tape and some shoe goo were gonna be my temp repair. I found some cheap on Amazon for like $6 a roll. Maybe lesser quality but I don't need to last very long.

I'm swamped at work with an issue so time of scarce at present.
