I have a 2011 4Runner with approximately 35,500 miles and my standard warranty is almost up. I am looking to purchase a ToyotaCare extended warranty with no deductible. Does anyone know how much a 7 or 8 year warranty should cost and what dealerships have given good prices? Thanks in advance for any help!!

I paid 1400 for 8 year 125k miles. That is the highest you can go.
Hope I never have to use it, but If i do, i don't think that's a bad deal.

An EW is nothing but an insurance policy. To me, it's just a cost-benefit analysis, bent a little by your risk tolerance, and a little more by your wrenching skill level.
I bought one, but only (thanks to this forum) because I got it for half what the dealer originally wanted.
It's looking likely that I'll not need it, but there's always Murphy.

What level of "mods" are typically acceptable before voiding the warranty? I don't want to have to wait until the warranty is up before really dialing in the truck.
Any ideas?

I called Jerry Johnson. $1142 (if I recall correctly) total for 7 year 125k Platinum warranty no deductible.
It is HUGE peace of mind to me and my wife (she also has one for her Lexus.) If even one thing goes wrong it will pay for itself. My wife has already used hers because her mother, who leased the truck first, broke the rack & pinion, and we didn't realize it till later on. She drives like a nut.

Another positive review for Jerry Johnson. Quick, easy deal. My 2011 with almost 36K miles cost $889 for the 100K mile 7 year version.
I've never bought a warranty before, and normally don't think they're cost effective. But on this truck, there are too many things that have a high dollar value to replace and aren't repairable by me. For me, it was a risk tolerance decision as much as financial.

First off I agree with Philsey. I have a ToyotaCare extended warranty on my 2004 Sport Edition V8 4WD and its been a great investment. That being said, the salesman was so desperate to sell me the warranty that he gave me zero deductible. So to me, my extended warranty has been extremely valuable! Combined with working at the dealership, I've had warranty replace components that have failed; i.e. my front differential due to a burnt pinion bearing...( still wonder how that happened.) To preemptively replacing my throttle body due to a minor coolant leak before it became worse OUT of warranty.
That being said, just because you paid for the warranty doesn't mean they won't try and weasel out of it. I have had to fight and argue with the warranty company over repairs and what is and isn't broken. Don't EVER let a warranty company try to pay or force you to repair your vehicle with used parts or non-OEM parts. They will also argue with you over some of the stupidest stuff in the world; i.e. my front differential they wanted us to rebuild it (not that I couldn't rebuild it, I've done them before,) but the factory doesn't really want us rebuilding rear ends. They rather us just replace the entire unit, which the warranty company thought was too expensive. Until I showed them a P&A on what brand new factory parts would cost + labor to remove, rebuild, and reinstall. They changed their minds and authorized a new 3rd member. LoL Point being, you'll have to fight them pretty hard sometimes. I had a forum member say the ToyotaCare wouldn't warranty his Hydraboost unit (the Combo Brake MC, ABS, Hydraulic Pump unit) because while the MC did fail, the ABS was an electrical component not covered under the warranty. With some help from the forum he beat the warranty company into sense. (Toyota states to replace these units as entire assemblies, thus its all one big piece in terms of parts.)
As for modifications, they cannot legally deny your claim based on your modifcations unless they can prove the modifications caused the failure in the first place. This doesn't mean they won't try (sometimes they do), it just means when you argue with them, you'll be in the right unless they can prove your lift or mod caused so and so to fail. My '04 is lifted, SW Bumper, 33" tires and the warranty inspector just snaps pictures and comments how he likes my truck.
