Extreme 3rd Gen Build! Insane!

Today took a while to disconnect every tiny crusty, dirty, muddy, oily, harness connection from the transmission and steering column. Removed the transfer case and all the shifters too. Tomorrow the engine and the rest of the harness will come out.

Is anyone interested in a 4-speed transfer case that will bolt right up to any 3rd or 4th gen automatic 4WD transmission? Northwest Fab Blackbox integrated with NP205 drivers side drop. Absolutely bulletproof. The stub shaft, adapter plate, and shifting cables all go with it. It's a little dirty. Rebuilt Feb 2017 (here's the link to the thread where it was rebuilt and the black box integrated) PM me if you are interested.

BlackBox in high, Transfer case in low, ex: 1.96:1 (NP205)

BlackBox in Low, Transfer Case in High, 2.72:1

Blackbox and Transfer case in Low 5.33:1 compound low. (2.72:1x1.96:1)

Bye Bye Forever

It was a bitter sweet day when I had finally load the trailer up with the only part of the 4-Runner i didn't need or keep. Mostly because I can't store it at or near my house (pesky homeowners associations). As soon as I get my big shop built on my land then I can store all the old metal I want. Muahahahahah.

Anyway...

Engine, trans, and the complete harness (engine and everything under the dash) was painstakingly removed with precision to avoid damaging the harness (which is needed to make the thing run).

After that, I cut out all the metal I wanted to save and loaded the rest up to take to the recycling center who gave my about $100 in scrap value.

Then the Jeep Frame and tub went in the shop.

The Conundrum Begins

Okay... so, I started with a 2002 Toyota 4Runner (by the way one of the worst years to have if planning a build like mine). Now, I'm only left with the spunky and reliable 5VZ. Which I had planned to use in this scratch built Jeep project.

Then I find this beautiful mechanical beast capable of 400 hp and GOBS of torque. Mate that to the SM465 4 speed I have with SUPER low first gear and we are seriously crawling!

So, I don't think it's going to be anything related to a 4Runner anymore. Thus, I will probably not post on this thread going forward with the next build. You know since I'm building a Jeep. I will find a way to use some of the sheet metal from both my 02 Runner and the 88 Runner in the jeep project. I'll smile a little knowing that my 4Runner lives on in some small way. I'll also find something to use the 5VZ in (another older 4Runner perhaps).
