So...my wife's new-to-her 05 Lexus GX470 has not yet been in our possession for 30 days yet and as I was cleaning the garage I grabbed a bag of donation clothes and put them in the back of her car behind the third row. Unbeknownst to me that apparently seconds before, our cat (who may not live through this) sprayed the bag. the bag sat in the car over night and now the car is a cat urine nightmare. we have tried fabreeze and are currently treating the space with baking soda.

If we can't get the smell out I am thinking about removing the carpet from the rear cargo area and replacing with a weathertech liner.

Thoughts?

My work uses this to get cigarette smell out of the work trucks. I'd say it's very effective. There are other brands too I just picked the first picture.

This is the stuff: Rocco & Roxie Professional Strength Stain & Odor Eliminator.

If you can't get this stuff, get Nature's Miracle from the pet store. White bottle with red lettering.

Never needed to use it on cat urine - thank goodness - but I've been really impressed with this product for odor elimination:

It's concentrated, so the bottle will last a long time.
As mentioned above, I've heard that the Nature's Miracle works really well for pet odors.

So I think I got lucky. Never confirmed exactly what it got on bud I wiped all the hard surfaces down and scrubbed and vacuumed the carpet a couple of time with baking soda. It was still lingering so I took it through the car wash on a hunch that it may have been on the bumper. Between all those things it looks like I solved the problem. Thank for a the advice!

I've heard of the nature's miracle too but haven't tried it though. I'll take note of the tips mentioned here, just in case our furry ones will spray their wrath on the vehicle. We own two cats, so it can happen to us too. haha

Little known fact about Nature's Miracle. The two original owners got into a fight a couple years ago, both sue'd each other over the rights to the company. Judge awarded one the company name and the other the product formula. The new Nature's Miracle isn't the original formula, it's now under the name of Petastic.

We have been using this stuff for more than just cat stuff. After fishing trips or whatever. It says its for cats, but it works on my boys cleats and their nasty practice clothes that they forget to tell me about :

Odormute is one of the best i have ever used to eliminate odors, you can mix it to to accommodate many different odors.

I have tried the Natures Miracle which helps control the odor, I have noticed it just works better because of the Enzymes, So on that note try to get something with natural enzymes, the trick is to let it set soked for a bit let it dry and do over and then blotch dry, it does take the odor away. but soaked is the key and let it dry i am sure it went into the subfloor :hunter:

eliminating the order isn't the problem. fabreeze masks the odor without removing it. you need to remove it .

Best way I'd pre soak the area with an interior carpet cleaner. I like nonsense (diulute it per instructions)

adigitate the area with a soft brush, if you can get a machine attachment tat would be good. then rent or buy a hot water extractor use (home depot rents one for 30 bucks a day i think) Good excuse to do the whole car.

If you haven't done your interor in a while you can wipe down the whole inside of you car with nonsense, except glass and leather. 10:1 or 20:1.

Should make for a fun saturday or sunday.

Feel free to ask more questions, but the best would be to check out chemical guys video, AMMO NYC, etc. on how to get the proper technique.

With the proper tolls it shouldnt be too bad.

Edit you might be able to get away with a brush, nonsense, and shop vac alone. nonsense is pretty awesome stuff. Remember always start with least aggressive method first.
