My 2013 SR5 came with the factory roof rack and no cross bars. I noticed that it did not have the cross bars installed within a couple days of buying the truck. I assumed this was extra and sold as an accessory. That was about 4 months ago. So, in a nut shell, did yours come with the cross bars or was it extra?
This is details of me trying to find out:
Fast Forward to last night, my brother in-law and sister in-law come and show us there new 4Runner. Same exact truck, except different color, he has a sunroof and I have running boards. Other than that, twins of different colors. I notice that he has the cross bars installed on the roof rack and ask him about it, as in if the cross bars were extra or standard and point out that I do not have them. Now, here is where his opinion matters…he is a Toyota Technician (I know, convenient , right). At the same dealership where he and I bought both bought the 4runners. He says, they must have “stolen” yours on the lot to put on another truck. It is supposed to come with the cross bars. Further he explains that roof rack/cross bars come as “a kit”. He goes into work today and keeps me up to speed via text. He starts off with the same as last night, saying yea, supposed to be on the truck. Then tells me go talk to my salesman, later says the salesman remembers me, etc…then much later says he spoke to a big manager, who said my truck “came without the cross bars”. Brother in-law walks around the lot and notices a few without the cross bars. So…..was I supposed to get them? Is the manager just back pedaling so he wont have to pay for them now?
