Falken A/T3W SL range VS E range

I noticed that on Falken's website it notes different compounds are used on the SL and LT tires. Are there any real differences in terms of on road or off road handling between the two? I've read ad nauseum about the differences in terms of acceleration, weight, etc., but was wondering if there was a real difference in terms of the compounds used.

Also, is there any difference in side wall thickness for the two?

The ply of the tire is the difference and thus the weight. If you tow or wheel very often, you MIGHT benefit from the additional plies. There might be SOME sidewall differences but the additional plys are there to handle additional weight. More road oriented use should favor p-metric - less weight and the silica compound which should do better in the wet, so if that’s a big priority for you, I might lean that way. The advantage of the LTs is the deeper tread depth.
