I love my Mavic Pro, and will probably be getting a second one soon. Maybe the Platinum. I want two so I'll have a backup in case one gets damaged or something while I'm on a trip.
yeah i have to say, those DJI quad copters are amazing.
This is a foam board scratch build with EDF motor on my office wall. I don't fly it anymore, i don't feel like rebuilding the thing if i crash it....heh.
scratch build as in it is made from foam board from the $1 store...there is an insane community as far as people sharing plans for planes. I got the plans for this jet from Flite Test.

Started with a 3DR Iris. Nothing but problems for me, very DIY. Eventually bought a Phantom 4, then an Inspire 1 with x5R, and finally a Mavic pro. Probably wouldn’t buy anything other than a DJI again. Except for maybe a FreeFly Alta... if the budget ever allows.

Do any of you guys remember the days where there were no drones that you could buy ready to fly, you would need to buy an entire parts list and assemble and solder it yourself? And nobody called them drones, there was only quadcopter, tricopter, etc...? And the media and general public knew nothing about them. Those were the good old days.
Now everybody owns a drone.
Here is my fleet, have sold the quadcopter and Mini Summit thing, I think my brother still has the tricopter, and the Rustler VXL has a black Bandit body/ drag racer theme going on with a huge wing. Have only done a couple FPV flights before selling my quad, mostly LOS flying.
Slash 4x4 with Mamba system and 4s. Has basically every mod so it's a money pit I'll probably never sell, but I built it completely from a rolling chassis. The parts list on my excel spreadsheet is embarrassingly long.
Built this micro v-tail a while back and could never get it fully dialed in but good god was it fun to fly. Cut the frame from a plastic sheet. 3100kv motors on 3s with 4" props = 34,000 rpm. Sounded like a swarm of bees. Threw it in a box, taped it up, and haven't touched it for years unfortunatley.

Yes, haha...I started with the KK2, then CC3D flight controllers. My brother in law also started with KK2, then Naze, then to some controller where it would stabilize the quad falling upside down.
Half the fun was the learning/building process...but I got tired of keeping up with the latest and greatest quad copter flight controllers...I am flying planes via FPV at the moment.
I recognize alot of your hardware...I have the same 9X controller. Have a Frsky and a RangeLink 433mhz module for it.

I need to get back into it........I started with a Tamiya Baja racer in '82 when you had to build every little nut and bolt! Then a few more Tamiya cars, a Cigarette boat and a plane before moving to the RC/10 with a Toyota extra cab in Ivan Stewart paint of course! I still have all the stuff but my Son had no interest due to video games! The Toyota 1st Gen Pick up kit has me interested in driving a Rock Crawler painted up like my real one!

I had a Mavic Pro. Loved it. Sore Subject on why I no longer have it.
Will definitely be getting another one, if not getting a Phantom this time. But I will say the Mavic Pro is probably the better option. If your out wheeling or adventuring. Its definitely nice that it packed away so small.

I have a few RC things:
I want to get some of these. I love seeing what people are doing with them. So cool.
Got a bunch too.
Started in cars/trucks.
Everything from the Mini-Z 1/28 all the way to HPI's Baja 5B.
Got tired, started planes, but flying line of sight gets boring really fast (you really can only do circles over the field).
Got into drones, was my day job for a while (I flew a pre-prod Phantom 3, and crashed a 25k$ S1000).
Then drone racing was a thing, built a few, had custom carbon frames cuts etc.
Started hanging with Team Canada FPV and Gab707... kinda killed my buzz flying with the fastest drone racer in the world.
Then started doing planes again, with FPV gear and it's awesome.
Will post picts when I get my toys unpacked again (recently moved for work).

No, that's the only body option.
But you can get a 1/10 scale crawler and have a gen2 T4R or gen4 Taco on it.
