Sorry for the late reply... I haven't been on here in a long time... To answer your question... Yes Sir! :)

The FZJ80 is a Landcruiser... Early to mid 90's. You need the front coils from the Landcruiser to put in the rear of our trucks.
 
Hey folks! So... once again, I kind of fell off the face of the planet, in regards to T4R.org... lol! Alot has happened since my last update on the new hood / paint idea.

First off... I had a lot going on in regards to my job. I spent the later part of the summer working all kinds of ridiculous hours, only to have to deal with workplace harassment, unwarranted work suspensions, and then eventual dismissal.

While all of this was going on, I decided to find work outside of CN Rail, and returned to my previous field of work, and became a Municipal By-Law Officer. (I know... I'm a rent-a-cop... lol)



That being said, it meant taking a pay cut.. but I'm home alot more now, have more personal time, and am a lot happier. I've been really active on my Youtube channel, and working on my fitness.



Anyway, enough about me... and on to the mods! ;) I've been recently working on restoring some of my previous mods. I replaced my lower valance driving lights, repainted the grill and bumper filler plates, filled in some paint chips on the rocker panels, replaced the TRD badges, and polished up the wheels and skid plate.







I started this little project on Saturday morning, working all day, into the night, and finally finishing it this morning at 7:30am. As a result, I took it to work for the first time since I parked it in November. When I got there... I decided to park it next to a co-workers 98 Limited. ;)



I'm still planning on installing and painting my Sport Hood... in fact.. I've been saving $100.00 per paycheck towards this project... and will be going to get some quotes this week and schedule the work as well. ;)

In the meantime... while the weather is nice... I'm going to drive my old girl, and leave the Taco parked in the driveway.

 
Sorry to hear the train job didn't pan out, looked like a cool gig! Apparently looks can be deceiving though. Did you stay way up north?

I loved the work... but was surrounded by people who hated me, because I was a bosses nephew. They never even gave me a chance.... and made their minds up before I even got there. The training I received was almost non existent, and then I was put in charge of a crew with no experience. One of the guys that hated me, ended up becoming my Supervisor, and since I have a low tolerance for bullshit, he continued his hatred for me and spread it around the other bosses.

I worked with a ton of guys, and most got along just fine with me... but a remote few made my life hell there... and I eventually had no choice but to move on.

The money was good... but the stress and harassment was not worth it. I get paid about $6.00/hr less... but I'm home more... get to see my kids grow up... and sleep with my wife every night. That is worth more to me... than the money I was raking in, staying in a bush camp, living with people who were toxic.

That being said... I've moved on... happy... and looking forward to painting that Sport hood! :) And yes... I'm still living up North! lol! I found a great gig with the Town, and could never afford to live in a shack like the one I have here, back home. lol!

I think you need Fightman to just go ahead and become a mountie. I hope Julie now doesn't have to start driving the bus again. At least with the new job your chances of running off the road into a huge snow drift will be less.

Keep Mean Green alive and well!

Julie decided to start up her old house cleaning business, back in October, in order to help pay the bills when I was going through all the B.S with CN Rail. Since then... she's been increasing her clientele, and makes a cool $1100/month to help us out.

That being said... we are still very happy with the decision. My co-workers are great... the job is fantastic... and although I'll never be a police officer (due to my medical history and current conditions), this is a good step towards a good future for us.

Benefits are good... Pension... pay is still alright... making about $24.50/hr now. There is room to move up in the future... so I'm pretty optimistic.

That being said... I'll always be a 4Runner guy... I've had mine for 13yrs now... and still get the gitters when I think about driving her! ;)

Speaking of which... I parked it next to a Stock 98 Limited again today.... huge difference! I guess I've forgotten all the little mods I've done to this thing, to make it what it is... lol!

 
Rust removal and preventative measures

Hey folks, here's a look at the process I took to repair the paint in my inner / outer rocker panels.

Here's some shots of the the rockers after I wire wheeled the rust spots:







After they were wire wheeled, I wiped them down with paint thinner and coated them with rubberized rocker coating:



I've tried priming it and painting, and adding clear coat.... I've tried Rustoleum paint followed by coats of base coat / clear... but this seems to hold up longest.

The next step was to coat with base coat and clear:






**For some reason, the stock weather stripping on the bottom of the doors had stretched and began to sag... so I cut it down and re-installed it:

Finally, here's some pics of the truck with the doors closed:







I'm planning on doing a quick wet sand on the lower part of the front fenders and then polishing them out to smooth out any overspray from the clear... but that won't be for a couple more days. In the meantime... I'm heading to bodyshop tomorrow to get an estimate on getting the Sport Hood painted and mounted! :)
 
BTW... 2 weeks til this badboy get's installed and painted!



And this roof is getting stripped and re-sprayed as well!



April 27th is the big day... can't wait! :)
 
IT's Easter Weekend, raining, and not much modding going on over there.... but saw my old girl.. and couldn't help but feel like she looked damn good wet! ;)

I've read other threads saying 2.75" - did you have to stretch the rubber to fit over the 3" pipe?
