Did you send your lights to Lightwerkz to do a retrofit or did you do this yourself using components they provided? Whats the cost?

I agree! Seems you can find them for $100 a piece on ebay. Of course you could recoup this at the end of the project by selling whatever you pull off your truck.

I used to do tons of retrofits back in the day. What is the difference maker is always the lenses. The nicer the lens , the more it's going to cost. I don't know anything about this brand, but for $400, I doubt you're getting a high quality lens.
I've always used the Audi and BMW and Honda s2000 lenses back in the mid 2000's. I'm sure technology has improved across the board. The lens is the most important, it determine the quality of light output.

EDIT for clarification: I bought OEM Lexus HID projectors, spare 4R headlights off our classifieds, sent that all to Lightwerkz. They supplied the HID components and performed the retrofit. Their workmanship is excellent.
I don't discuss these costs anymore, I got tired of the critics. It ain't cheap, but I'll have top end lights as long as I own this car.
FYI. Lightwerkz can provide this same M-LED, and do the retrofit as well. They offered it to me, but I preferred HID.

I've also been doing retrofits for the last 15 years or so, Morimoto makes some high quality lenses and projectors, I had their projectors retrofitted into my 08 and they were great quality

Price out a mini h1 with a quality set of HIDs and you're under 400. With output thats way better then the LED setup. quality has gone up and the price to manufacture these has gone down. I'm sure 400 seems decent if you're used to using OEM parts though.

See [MENTION=148525]bigbadpoppa[/MENTION] 's comments re lenses. 100% right on. HID kits put in the stock headlight with the stock lens can only yield mediocre results.
I've seen pics of this combination with a high quality lens and it rocks.

MLED compared to Lexus HID (pic)
I got this pic from Lightwerkz while I was deciding my retrofit. Caesar (LW owner) said it was a good quality piece of kit, but these are my reasons for choosing HID.
Width: The MLED is highly center-focused (hotspot) with noticeably less width overall. One of my reasons for doing an HID retrofit is greatly improved light spread. My score: HID 1, MLED 0
Color: This HID is 4200K and I'd guess the LED is ~6000K. It's a bright white, which does not appeal to my eyes. My score HID 2 MLED 0
Foreground: You can see the LED has much more foreground light. Technically, this is considered less desirable as it focuses your eyes too close to the car. My score HID 3 MLED 0
Lumens: I have Lumen readings somewhere. From memory, the HID is about 70% more than OEM halogen, and the MLED is 100% more than OEM halogen. Bear in mind, readings taken at hotspot. Some will prefer, some will not, I prefer the better spread. My score HID 4 MLED 0.
Dependability: The LED will outlast an HID bulb, but there's cooling requirements, untested by time. OTOH, there's more componentry required with HID, thus more to fail. My score HID 4 LED 1.
Cost: Not enough difference for me to care. As I've said before, I don't discuss this anymore because armchair critics.
Again, MY opinions. Posting simply as FYI.

I'm well aware of this. I've done several retrofits using Miromoto kits as well as Acura projectors. However, I just don't have time to do retrofits nowadays and I'm to cheap to pay someone to do it. Hence I gave HID PNP a shot. Seems there are some folks on here who are happy with this kind of setup. However, once go retro.. well you know the rest.
This new retroquick could be the answer for me. Just wish they dial down the color to 5000K.
