Finally. ARB bumper for 14+ 4Runner

Finally, ARB released the details on the 14+ 4runner bumper for the TE, and SR5. Sorry Limited owners, they claim it's not compatible.


What I am confused about is that it appears in pics, if in fact that's the bumper shown, that cutting is required. At Expo East, the ARB rep told me cutting wouldn't be required at all much like on the Taco.

I would be shocked if no cutting was required, could be the case but if so that bumper would stick out a long ways from the front.

that looks great! much tighter to the body than the 10-13 version! I will have this! But yes you can clearly see there is cutting required

Looks like crap.. the top half of the original bumper hacked off and crammed up on top of the ARB bumper and finished off with some JCWhitney molding. Yeah, no way in hell I would spend money for the look that you could get from any backwoods mechanic with a sawzall.

the only way i think it would look good is to use a limited front bumper. the cutouts for the non-limited fog lights look out of place on the ARB bumper.

Yeah, I am not a huge fan of hacking up the bumper. I saw the ARB bumpers on the Mountain State Overland rigs at the ARB booth at OEX East and while I love the ARB bumper the most, I don't love the cutting involved to make it fit or the end resulting look. Wish it was a clean install like the ARB is on nearly every other Toyota Rig prior to the 3d GEN TACO and the 5th GEN 4Runner.

Perhaps Engineers should also take architectural and design courses and vice versa so that we can put an end to the two extremes.

Aesthetically pleasing yet loss of function

vs.

Fully functional and UGLY as dog crap.

Or perhaps a collaboration from both sides in which both form and function are important.

For me it's actually not. I am just concerned about the long term effect of hacking up my truck here in the rust belt. I can't prove any thing bad would happen but I can see any good thst can come from it. Just me though. I am definitely not an expert. I still love the ARB bumper the most for both form and function.

With a front end this complex, I really think they could have followed the line under the headlight/edge of the grill for more aesthetics without compromising the function.

That said, this really looks like a classic ARB bumper, and maybe I am not the target consumer.

Exactly, or make a bolt on that follows that contour so that you can remove the old bumper entirely. Can't possibly see how doing this would compromise function.

Maybe nothing. I may be over estimating the impact of open/exposed components that would mostly by covered by the new bumper.
