Finally detailed :) - Pics

Sure came out nice...damn, dirty shame you have to drive it out on the sloppy roads again.

Oh well...spring will be here soon enough. I've been stopping by and just knocking the salt off...the small snow storms create as much of a mess as the big uns'!

Mine used to be this color. Maybe I should wash it. The dealer told me I probably didn't need to wax it for a year but I doubt the wax has held up to the snow grime and salt I drove through a week ago in NM.

I am sick to my stomach because of how dirty mine is. Pittsburgh has been below freezing since January 1st and washing it (I mean a good wash and not just a spraydown or touchless wash) is just not possible. Can't stand having a new vechile look this dirty!

Nice choice.

Love the emoticon J.A.

I originally decided to get the Porter Cable, but upon reading your site/review, I figured why buy twice. Just spend the money properly the first time and be happy with it.

Thanks!

I used this wax:
Meguiar's Direct NXT Generation® Tech Wax® 2.0 Paste
But it did not come off as easy as I would have liked, but I do like the results.

Took your advice and gave my T4R a good bath and wax job today (beautiful weather in Pittsburgh). Used the Tech Wax 2.0 paste and I found a secret weapon today. I received a Armor All Gift Pack of cloths for Christmas and used the Polishing Cloth to give it a final once over after removing the wax. It removed all the swirls and cut down on all hard rubbing.

I applied the wax and removed it with my orbital buffer. There were still swirls (that's usually what happens with a black vehicle) and the cloth worked amazingly great. I couldn't find an image of the cloth on the Armor All site and do not have time to take photo's, but it is a soft cloth with a square fabric pattern. Would highly recommend for anyone having difficulty removing swirls.

PS: Took a quick ride out to the dealer to get a touch-up paint kit and on the way home, a group of birds flew over and crapped all over the windshield! At least they missed the paint, but I couldn't believe it! It's impossible to keep this vehicle clean!

I think the birds intentionally aim for the cleanest car before bombing. I once had drippage that started from my windshield, went across the roof, and ended in a perfect glob on the rear spoiler. The bird got me while I was moving at around 35 MPH under a single tree. Amazing.

Very nice pictures! You did an excellent job! Why some people are making comments about others things not related to this post! He's not asking for help or comments about the right way to setup his radar detector! He's showing up his new Runner, so we can see how good it looks! Let's keep negatives comments to ourselves! Thanks

:iagree: if you leave your car dirty and unwashed for months, it'll never get any bird droppings. Within days, if not hours, of a freshly washed car, it'll get bombed by birds. :50cal:

thats a really wierd looking 4runner, did u modify it? or did u buy it like that, or is it a newer model. b/c it looks really cool

Figured I would add to my thread....Yes I know it is not a 4R but I did just detail it so :) Wife's new 11' Escape Limited.

I used the Meguiar's Ultimate Wax Paste - very happy with it.
Meguiar's Direct Ultimate Wax Paste

I was using Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 Paste
Meguiar's Direct NXT Generation® Tech Wax® 2.0 Paste

Both seem to go on and off with the same ease, the new one is claims repel the water a little better, time will tell. Hopefully be able to do my 4R new weekend! Onto the pics....
