Paid 120$ to get them welded on. We trimmed the legs because it would of stuck out wayyyy to long. What do you guys think ? I was worries they stuck out to much but I think it's good.

They look good. One thing is if you plan to wheel them hard then you will want to gusset the tops to the frame and if you do gusset it then add a plate along the frame to distribute the load on the frame to keep from punching thru.

As in add support where it is welded to the frame ?? See I couldnt go high on the frame as it would of came to close to the body and probably hit the doors.

I know it needs the triangle support from.the slider to the frame.

I guess I made a mistake by not putting a plate first :( can I still reinforce it since it's welded.


Do you think I'll be ok for now ??

depending on how crazy you get smashing those sliders they will be ok as long as you dont hit any bolder too hard. just depends on what you plan on doing

how far is the main tube spaced under the pinchweld

yes the welds look good. but the person who welded them should have known and recommended plates or something
 
I welded my first set of sliders on this way. Ended up cutting them off, adding the plates and gussets, and re-welding them back on. Just depends on how you plan on using them.
 
Don't feel too bad man - I think a bunch of us had to cut off our sliders to make them stronger. I know I did and I'm thankful I did. Got hung up on a huge bolder under the driver side slider last weekend and drove off with only some minor scuffs to the bed-liner on the slider.

Great looking sliders though!

the gussets should not go on top at the 12 o'clock, they should go on the sides at the 9 and 3 o'clock. Counterintuitive, I know. Sensible when explained.
As was recently explained to me in a series of emails with Stubbs welding: "Have you seen where some will put gussets on top of the slider legs to the frame (scab) plates at 12 O'clock? This is so completely wrong. ...The correct orientation is at 3 or 9 or both of those together. If put directly in the load path it will open the leg up just like a can when a decent load is applied...In fact it will fail somewhat like how a manual can opener (kind on swiss army knives) works. So..... It only came with 1 guessed per plate. Do you suggest that one gusset should be rather on 3 or 9 o'clock vs at 12? But what about the plate that's welded on the frame and the sliders being welded to the plate ? Because I just got my gusset kit. It's trail gear gusset kit with 6 plates and 6 gusset

I know. And I guarantee the vast majority of replies will be along the lines of "mine are at 12 o'clock and I've never had a problem", or I am an idiot, or etc.
I am only passing along what I just learned from a welder who took the time to answer all of my questions. He explained the answers. He described the dynamics and the paths of force transmission. He went way above and beyond in his replies. I posit this is not just his job, it is his vocation. The time and effort he put into his replies connote a professional who has a high degree of passion about and knowledge of his trade. In other words, his answers are experience and knowledge based. His answers are not simply his opinions, they are grounded in knowledge and rationale. I have complete faith in both his moral and ethical integrity and his skills and knowledge as a metal worker.
Plus, he's a nice guy who's easy to deal with.
I did not know. He knows. I believe him. So, now I believe that I do know because he told me.
Adding one at 9 o'clock and one at 3 o'clock seems like a best practice. Putting one at 12 o'clock seems like it would be counterproductive. This is my suggestion, but I am not a welder, I have not studied welding, I do not manufacture or install sliders. I am not a reliable source. But I believe what I was told by one whom I believe to be a reliable source.

sourcing more small triangles of metal should be doable. Maybe ask TG if they will sell you another 6 pack of just the gussets.
I question if cutting off and re-welding the sliders is necessary. How hard core will your off roading be? If not heavy bash rock crawling I say you need not go through the hassle and expense of removing/reinstalling. I'd cut 6 more triangles from the frame plates in the kit then weld 2 per leg at 9 and 3 o'clock.
