First 4Runner Build Thread/Intro SR5 4WD lots of pics!!

I had this done to my 3rd gen with a 5.5", didn't realize people were doing it on the 4th gen as well. I'll probably look into it as its a cheap mod.

I don't think it's as big of a 4th gen thing as it was on the 3rd gen Runners and 1st gen Tacoma's. Some people think it doesn't do anything. All I know is with a high flow air filter, a hole in the air box, and removing the HCF filter it makes the same sound as an intake...so it has to be getting more air.

only thing done to it is a HCF filter removal and a K&N Air Filter

Plans include:
5100's on stock coils
new tires
HID's
and that's about it...it's a kid hauler

And it came in!!!! I got a deal I couldn't pass up on this ARB and couldn't be happier.

So today I went against the advice of pretty much everyone on here and cheaped out and put on OME 886 coils. I also slapped a Toytec 1/4 top plate spacer on there. The result was great. I have about an inch and a half to two inches more clearance in the front and the rake is gone. Install wasn't too terrible but it wasn't nearly as easy as the 885's. Overall I'm happy because I just don't have the money to spend on legit coilovers and these did exactly what I wanted them to do.

Put a winter coat on the Runner today. Consisting of a good detail and wax!:guitar:

Steps I Used:

-Meguiar's Deep Crystal Car Wash (twice...it was dirty)
-Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0 on some pin striping
-Meguiar's Clay Bar
-Meguiar's Deep Crystal Car Wash (once again)
-Meguiar's Ultimate Compound applied with a Random Orbital Buffer with High Quality Polishing pads
-Zymol Cleaner Wax
-Turtle wax Trim Restore on Mirrors, Cladding, Roof Rack
-Meguiar's Quick Detailer on ARB and Sliders
-Turtle Wax Wheel Cleaner
-and about thirty microfiber towels...

Oh and if you all were not familiar with Texas weather, the only way to get it to rain is to spent 3+ hours washing your truck. So naturally two hours after I finished....

But for real though. I have been up to something lately. Now this is really going to be a "build" thread, rather than an "Add to Cart" thread...hahaha :welder:

Basically what's going on is I'm building a custom rear bumper/ tire carrier this week (hopefully I'll get it done). I've got an Oxy/Acetylene torch, 220 V Mig Welder, Angle grinder, and some other fun tools to get this done. So far I have bought a sheet of 4x8 3/16" steel and will purchase some square tubing for the tire carrier and side protection :devil:, once I get the main part of the bumper completed. I have purchased some materials from AtoZfabrication AtoZ Fabrication...Made In the USA for the build. I bought the Super Beefy Hinge, tire mount, latch mechanism, 2" hitch w/ chain hooks, and D-Ring Shackle Mounts.

As of right now I'm not too sure what design I'll exactly be going with. I'm basically going to play with some cardboard tomorrow and pick what works. I have an idea in my head that I just need to get to cardboard...then steel.

I'll try and take as many photos as possible but I suck at that (ADHD so not my fault) so I'll post what I remember to take. This is about where I'm at as of tonight. I really just pulled the bumper and trailer hitch off, decided on my mounting points, and discussed design plans with my friends. Two of my roommates and a good friend of mine with a lotttt of welding experience will be helping me along the way. Let's see how it goes!

Got some work done today on the bumper. We took care of the cardboard mock-up. So tomorrow we cut and weld :welder:! Here's some pics of the progress we made today.
