First time 4 runner buyer needs help

Hey Folks,
I apologize in advance if I'm reposting questions that have already been asked - I searched the threads but couldn't find what I was looking for.

I'm currently in the market for a Gen4 4 runner, most likely 05-08, need a 4x4, want a 6 cylinder (though 8 would be okay), and want the Sport package.

My question is: Is there an SR5 Sport? I seem to find conflicting answers online. Initially I just wanted the Sport for the suspension, and as such didn't spend time looking at SR5's. However, I found a few dealers posting SR5 Sports for sale but couldn't find the differences between the SR5 Sport and the standard Sport Edition online. Does the former exist and if so, what are the differences?

I think the Sport is technically considered an updgraded SR5 - it shows that way on the Carfax. But obviously there are some differences. Finding a Sport can be somewhat difficult because there's no real way to search for them. The best advice I can give you is to look on Autotrader or wherever and just look for the hood scoop in the thumbnails. Don't try to narrow it down by putting "Sport" into the search terms because many non-Toyota dealers just call them SR5's since that's what the Carfax shows.

I just picked up a 2007 Sport Edition in Galactic Gray. I looked for a very long time to find the "Sport Edition" with the hood scoop and larger brakes with XREAS suspension and factory NAV.

I searched EBAY, Cars.com, Autotrader and Craigslist and eventually found one on Craigslist about 90 miles away. Here is a cool web page that lets you search multiple Craigslist locations based on distance (rather than having to search one at a time.

As others have mentioned searching "Sport" will not necessarily give just sport editions, as many many dealers list SR5 as Sport. Look for the Hood Scoop in the pics as I believe all Sport Editions have the Hood Scoop.
