First time getting my 4R dirty, any tips?

yea, right after the fun, we'll go to my friend's company to use his gas-powered washer to clean our rigs.... i think that should be no problem to clean out any dirty.

and yes, we have RAIN whole day today, it's gonna be dirty and muddy tomorrow morning.... yea!!

I just got back from wheeling with a friend (HB 4x4) and it was extremely wet. All I can say is be careful, we were sliding around much more than we are comfortable with and some parts were literally like ice, you could not control your car whatsoever

Sorry all. That was a really bad post being really tired (working a 12 hr shift for two days).

It should've read,

yeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaa........... had so much fun today being the first time going to off road. most of us were doing ok, except MDX got caught at some point and ended up damaged the rear bumper a little. my friend's lifted, off road tires 4R and the FJ team trial edition got stuck at some point and they needed to haul out from the mud.
and my friend was going too extreme and popped one of his tires while dancing in a muddy pond.

a lot of fun and off road experiences today, and we are planning on our next trip, we may try out the Rubicon trial up by hwy 50, by then some of us need some serious gear before heading to Rubicon, ie: lift, tires......

Going from the 1st time to the Rubicon...umm...you might want to wait a bit. Baby steps haha... Get in some more practice! Let's see some pictures of your rigs out in the mud.

I'm glad you guys had a good time. Fun looking photos! However, I HIGHLY recommend you guys start with some easier trails before heading to the Rubicon. You WILL damage your vehicles going out there if you haven't learned the basics. On the stair stepper, you are supposed to air down your tires. A larger tread path gives you better traction instead of full aired up tires that are just going to spin. Also, and this is not criticize you, but in mud holes on the trail do not DO NOT drive like you did at the park. That is the exact reason why we are having to fight right now with the feds and the environmentalists to keeping our trails open. Remember, tread lightly.
Please go out on some other trails around here, lower rated ones, and then work your way up to the Rubicon. There are a bunch of trails in our area that you guys can go on. Go to the book store and buy a Northern CA trails book. Or there are a bunch on ebay if you'd rather do the online thing. Email me anytime ok?
Again I'm glad you guys had a great time. Trust me I know how addicting going out on a challenging trail becomes an addiction! If you're available, come to one of our club meetings, or join another club. That's a perfect safe way to start really learning how to off road and enjoy your vehicle.

haha, yea i know, and in the mud hole, that was my friend, i know ppl will get confused when 2 white 4Runner are going together, hahahaha.
 
Yeah I know that wasn't you. But I didn't want to come across as preaching to you or your friends. But I've really been listening to what's going on right now with the Tahoe DEIS and the environmentals push to ban all motorized vehicles on public land and it's really scary what they are trying to do. NO one on the lands, not even horses. They are trying to keep everyone off the land and every time someone posts vids or pics of people tearing up dirt, they go to town with using it as evidence that people are ruining Mother Nature and since they don't care, they should just loose thier right to be there, period. Please just be careful and pass this on to your friends. We are very close to being entirely banned. And if you care, pls. look into this and send a letter to the Forest Service. RIGHT NOW since the public comment response part to the DEIS is about to be closed.
EVERYONE even if you don't live in CA, please send a letter protecting our rights to be on public land. Instructions are here, go this website and read up on this.
