First time looking for a gen3. Should I...

As I found out when looking for 4runners in the Midwest, its very hard to find one that doesn't have rust somewhere. My 97 has only normal surface rust on suspension and frame. Bu has some rust on rockers and wheel wells. My brothers 2001 has zero rust anywhere on body, but had a small spot on frame that had rusted through. It was a garage kept one owner that looks new. If you want rust free, go west or south. And expect to pay a ton more. I wasn't worried about the little rust on mine as I payed next to nothing for it. Literally. Gambling is a bad addiction. People will give stuff away to go piss the money away. My next 4runner this summer is coming from out west. I'm buying a plane ticket and road tripping it back. Even a 97 out west with 175,000 on it is still selling for $5K +! Its crazy. I say keep your options open and be ready to jump on the "right" one.

Not sure how popular Toyotas are where you live, but around here if you want a deal you have to literally live on Craigslist and classifieds. ...

Same here in Colorado. Clean 4Runners are worth their weight in gold here.

I can tell you I would not part with my pristine (and original 2002) for anything short of an obscene amount of money. Ergo - I don't want to sell it period.

Supply and demand definitely is a factor with 4Runner's and if they are super clean the price goes up accordingly.

I personally would never buy a vehicle that has spent it's life in the rust belt because they just get beat to hell. Sad, but a fact.

For that price I would buy it. I've seen worse. POR15 the bottom & you'll be good for years. It's a one owner truck!

I should remove just move to TN. God I love that state. We honeymooned in a little cabin west of Sevierville. Took a youth group down in the smokies and worked on some guys house. Man I could live there.


Also told the guy I'm gonna hold off on the truck for now. Anybody interested go for it.

We do have some really nice hill tops and we don't typically get snow in the valley but if u want to see snow u can alway go up high to find it. That runner rust free was going for 3600 on CL

Yea I understand that but heck I know there are junk yards full of these 3rd gen so I know there isn't any shortage of parts either,
