Fitting seatbelt through rear passenger side interior paneling ?

does anyone know of a way to completely remove this side paneling ?


The seatbelt prevents you from completely removing it. And as far as I'm concerned the seatbelt is too big to fit through it... I guess you could force it through but then your plastic panel gets all mangled


Trying to replace that panel piece but the seatbelt is causing a problem.

I don't remember it being that difficult... though, I can't even remember how to do it at this point. It is definitely possible to do without damage:

When I was at the junk yard removing that panel I was trying to force the part that clips into the seat belt but then there was the part that secures to the floor & that was bigger...

I just cut the belt fabric to save time... but I guess you're saying just force it through somehow... is that right?

With the end of the seatbelt unbolted and the panel otherwise loose, it should come through the panel without much trouble.

Maybe he just removed panel and belt together, and put them back without ever separating them. Looking at what he did, I assume that's possible.

I was thinking about doing that as well however I still need to feed the belt through eventually...

His picture shows that his belt was left in place...

I guess I'll just have to eat my wheaties® & force it through the slit. Not that it's hard to do... I just want to avoid messing up the plastic on the new panel.

What?! It's incredibly easy.
Unbolt the bottom end of the belt, and everything slides through easily.
I just swapped '00 panels into my '97 for the updated color, bigger storage compartment, and 12v receptacle.
Both belts fit through the panels without any issue.
