Fixed my T-Case actuator w/ electricity and logic.

Has anyone used this method on a V8?
If so, which wires did you use?

Mine doesn't want to go into 4Lo and I'd like to try this (I have a variable power supply) but not sure which wires I'd use for it.

Ha, just got a ping from this thread; I'm glad it's still useful! Sold my T4R several years ago, moved into smaller and lighter machinery, but still recall it fondly. Great offroader, super cush.

Best,
Robert

Resurrecting this because I need some help. What would be a good variable voltage power supply to do this with? Was searching to see if anyone had made any videos doing this and couldn't find any. My actuator motor seems like it might be seized up and want to give this a go before I start looking into replacing the whole thing. Thanks!

I started with the the TM leads (conductors 2 (green) and 5 (blue)), as these control the Low/High actuator which was my original issue. Honestly, it cycled right away and never seemed to stick at all when driven with 15V. I absolutely had to screw with it to get the switch states correct (again, I was looking for the 2Hi state, so I wanted TL1 closed, TL2 open, and TL3 closed) but eventually got it there by driving the actuator with ~7V to keep it nice and slow).

I’m trying to follow this but confused here. The Training Guide mentioned earlier shows TM1 and TM2 going to the diff lock shift motor, not to the Low/High motor which has HM1/HM2 going to it. Was this a typo and HM was what was meant?

any idea where I can find the wiring diagram? the houseofun.ms11.net link is broken. Thanks in advance!

Someone should PIN this post at the top.

From what I remember about fixing mine, I can confirm that TM1 and TM2 are for the CDL. May have just been a mistype while writing it up. HM1 and HM2 are the Hi/Lo motors.

I also attached the documents I used to supplement the training guide when I worked on mine in case they help

To try to help clear up any confusion; here are screen shots from the wiring diagram manual. The 2-4 select motor has three positions for V6,(two positions for V8) they are H2, H4 and center diff locked. Those inputs are at terminals
1 & 2 (TM1 & TM2). You can see below text that shifting from H2 to H4 is only for the V6. One point to note is the Diff lock DL is accomplished through terminals 1 & 2 for V6 & V8 (TM1 & TM2). The only function accomplished with terminals 7 & 8 (HM1 & HM2) is shifting from H4 to LO4.That is all prepare to carry on....

1. Shift Select Control

Shifting from H2 into H4 position (1GR–FE)
When the 4WD control switch is turned from H2 into H4, this signal is input into 4WD control ECU (TERMINAL 2–4 of the ECU). Then, the 4WD control ECU moves the 2–4 select motor (TERMINAL 2, TERMINAL 1 of the actuator) in the transfer shift actuator until the shift fork shaft shifts to the diff. free position, performing a shift into H4 position

Switching diff. lock ON when in H4 position.
When the diff. lock switch is turned ON with the 4WD control switch in H4 position, this signal is input into the 4WD control ECU (TERMINAL DL). Then, the 4WD control ECU drives the 2–4 select motor (TERMINAL 2, TERMINAL 1) in the transfer shift actuator until the shift fork shaft shifts to the diff. lock position, locking it in H4 position with the diff. lock.

Shifting from H4 into L4 position
When the 4WD control switch is turned from H4 into L4, this signal is input into 4WD control ECU (TERMINAL LO). Then, the 4WD control ECU drives the H–L select motor (TERMINAL 8, TERMINAL 7) in the transfer shift actuator, shifting the shift fork shaft, performing a shift into L4 position.

Switching diff. lock ON when in L4 position.
When the diff. lock switch is turned ON with the 4WD control switch in L4 position, this signal is input into the 4WD control ECU (TERMINAL DL). Then, the 4WD control ECU drives the 2–4 select motor (TERMINAL 2, TERMINAL 1) in the transfer shift actuator until the shift fork shaft shifts to the diff. lock position, locking it in L4 position with the diff. lock.
