FJ Gauge Binnacle?

I had a brainwave the other day - has anyone ever tried adding an FJ gauge binnacle to their 5th gen? I'm pretty sure the inclinometer and compass are just mechanical gauges. The centre temp/data gauge probably wouldn't be worth integrating into the 4R computer, so a guy could probably just add an aftermarket gauge to the centre hole. I'm thinking if the other two gauges ARE mechanical, all you'd have to wire would be the dash illumination circuit. Anyone ever try this? Any thoughts??

There's a light/IR type sensor in the center dash that may need to be relocated. Also not sure about the dash contour. Might be worth exploring if you can pull a pod from a wrecked FJ.

If you're just after the inclinometer Smittybilt makes a similar product that's universal application

I had an FJ before the T4R. The gauges were worthless. All they did for me was block my vision. A third party inclinometer has to be a better solution.

Smittybilt also has a great iPhone app that does all of this. All you need is a mount for your phone. Works in landscape or portrait. Can't remember if it was free or paid, but the cost was negligible or I would have remembered how much.

The compass is electronic. The income tear is mechanical. The compass is on the same circuit board as the information display in the center of those gauges.
