FJ Summit 2012 -- DC to Ouray!

Raining pretty hard here in town at the moment. Hopefully everyone out on the trails is safe and taking it easy. Saw 4shorerunner in town taking shelter under an awning on main Street.

A number of water chutes have formed above Amphitheater. Hopefully Will is staying dry.

Yesterday I assume? I wheeled to the south as the weather did not look great up towards Ouray. Then of course it was raining in Ouray last night. Still had a great dinner in town though.

I think you mislabeled it, so I fixed it. That's is the rear shot that we ALL recommended against.
 
We had already planned a vacation to Lake City CO when we heard about the FJ summit. We made it over to Ouray on Thursday without a problem, but a trail on the way back tried to remove rear bumper!! We did get some funny looks as we were the only 4runner in our group of jeeps.

Nobody from the forum won the supercharger (340hp, btw - 5th Gen 4Runner SC will be released before FJ from what I heard). 4ShoreRunner won a synthetic winch line and I won a $250 gift certificate to Warrior Products. Seems all the really good prizes (or ones that we would want) went to vendors (Slee Offroad won the Metal Tech long travel rear setup; a carbon fiber good manufacturer won the supercharger; Chris from Baja Rack won something).

Anyway, it was a good time regardless. The event was very well organized overall, and it was great to spend time with the guys we interact with here and the vendors we love so much.

Headed to Moab first thing in the morning.

Will also won... He got a portable outhouse setup. Not a crappy price LOL! It was great seeing everyone and building some new friendships. Group photo tomorrow morning and then the long 2 day drive back home.

Hoping to convince the wife to do Moab next year. Looking forward to seeing the pictures from Limamike, Joneseyyy and 4shorerunner.

Sorry, thought I put some detail in a previous post, but I guess I didn't! Bottom line is that the shock was defective when it came from Icon (or so they think). The shock mount is assembled at Icon and comes to the customer with the lower bushing attached to the shock body. Apparently, when Icon assembled mine they might have left a hairline gap in the threading (i.e. the threads were not 100% seated, and were probably 99.9% seated). So, after a few thousand miles and pushing the suspension this past week they eventually stripped and worked loose. I'm apparently pretty famous because everyone seems to know me around here without actually knowing me ("Oh, YOU'RE the guy that lost his shock!").

+1 more for Icon: I mentioned I was going to Moab after this, and they told me to pick-up their display shock (not charged with gas) tonight so that I would have something to keep the suspension from over-articulating and possibly losing the spring if it happens again. Really really really great customer service from these guys.

Would any of you be able to divulge information on the Demello rear bumper?
 
Awesome looking trip and pics I hope this thread stays around a long time be cool to see over the years people adding to it.
 
Just finished the first half of Fins and Things here in Moab. Turns out the SR5 bumper makes a pretty good sand plow. Pics soon.

I was about to get angry. I tired to find someone before I left town to give them my raffle tickets...major fail.

Good meeting everyone! Already told the lady there is no chance in hell I'm missing anything next year. Planning a whole week long+ trip.

Ill get some pictures up when I get back to Denver.

You guys be safe. I am envious of your road trip, it will be a lot of fun and good memories.

It was good camping next you, I dont think I have met more respectful campers before.
