I *might* be wrong, but the FJ has a slightly shorter intake tube than the 4Runner does. So, I don't think it will fit properly.

Again, I could be wrong. I'd double check with another source.

Yeah, that would make sense. Toyota has 2 different part numbers listed, but i was also wonderig if it would be one of those "make it work" type things. You know?

if he's a buddy, he oughtta let (help) you try to install it without paying him for it. if it works, you pay him. if it doesn't, you take it back out, no biggie. that being said, you oughtta be able to tell just by looking at them whether or not they're interchangeable.

Oh yeah for sure, he'll help me with it ot let me borrow it to test fit first, i just thought i would ask here first. I'm kinda surprised no one here has tried it before.

It should work as long as the filter enclosure mounts up to the fender well the same. Good luck and give feedback! I'm sure others have considered this as well.

Will do, that will be this weekends project, in between college footbal and going to the Chiefs game sunday ha ha.

What kind of trd intake is it? is it the gen 1 with the conical filter or the one that has the GM style filter? if its a gen 1 it'll fit with no problem if its a gen 2 I wouldn't even consider it. for some reason it causes the MAF to be way off and cause lean engine codes. if your really looking for an intake get the afe intake or a gen 1 trd intake.

Really? Thanks for the info, thats good to know that they made a TRD intake that throws codes ha ha.

As far as which intake it is i'm not sure, i havent seen it yet. Do both generations have the airbox covering the filter or is that only the 2nd gen one?

I really think it was stupid of TRD to make the new design. the only difference is that the gen 2 is CARB approved while the gen 1 isn't. If you want to know more I would talk to Gadget at URD. He really knows his toyota stuff. The one with the silver top is the gen 1 and is the one you want. the black one is the gen 2 and is the one you DONT want. Even techs at some toyota dealers are having problems with the new intake.
