"Overlanding" to FJ Summit
8 Days, 7 Nights and 950 Miles.
Day 2

After a fun night around the fire on Weston Pass, we headed into Leadville. On the way down, Drew's 4runner sheared a break line. Thankfully we were close to a town, he made it down using his gearing and light use of the brakes. [MENTION=57546]4-Ripcord[/MENTION] and I ran into Leadville and bought him a new hard line and got him back to stopping properly.

Then we started the treck up and over Hagerman Pass!

Sadly this was @rockmtnphoto 's last trip in this runner. He got rear ended a day before our trip and we limped ole milton along but its time for another 3rd gen for him.

A beautiful Scout that passed us on our way up.

Lunch Stop!

It started to rain, which was a normal occurance this trip so @rockmtnphoto and I got crafty and made a quick shelter for the group.

As the rain subsided we were presented with this.

After lunch we motored to the top and I stopped and grabbed a quick shot.

Then it was down to camp on the Aspen Side!

I've been trying to post the rest of the trip but every time I finish a write up for a day and hit post, my google gives me an error message and then crashes :hurt:

I've spent about 4 hours rewriting and trying to post with no luck.... Getting frustrated.....
Any ideas, Pic amount is within accepted amount per thread, not that many words. Confused.

Flem have you ever tried fixing that damage on the left rear? I was curious if maybe like shoving a basketball or something in there and airing it up slowly would pop those back out? Wild Idea but just had to ask.

I've been heavily thinking about fixing it, but every time I do body work I crack paint and it never comes out good. So as much as I want to fix the ICONIC dent I just haven't got to it.

You have inspired me. I got tired of sitting at my computer Editing video and just went out and started. Way easier than I had expected. The area that had the dent was right in the opening above that silly cabin vent. So I used some Teva power and a lacrosse ball and worked it out. Started using a handle to a file and pushed some smaller ones out but the paint started to crack so I stopped and called it good. Took about 45min total.

Step 1-was to pull out my drawer system.
Step 2-was to remove all the interior panels, which I hate doing. I always break at least one clip. Everytime. And I did. just one but It broke lol.
Step 3- Get kicking. Not really I placed my foot right in the center of the dent, propped my back on the other side. Gave a good push followed by a loud pop. The main dent came right out.
Step 4- I used a lacrosse ball and my foot to work out some medium sized creases and that helped a lot.
Step 5- I used the handle of a file, (Wood and round) Then I started working the small stuff, some came out but the cracking paint made me just stop.
Step 6- Clean up and do Step 2 and 1 in reverse.

All in all, super easy and looks 100x better than it did. Thanks for the Motivation! #RIPCharacter

New LED reverse Bulbs

One of my reverse bulbs went out on my trip. Ordered these from amazon and put them in.

Pulled the old ones.

Here is the new one.

WOW, they work. Havnt used them at night but I have a cube on the back so Its pretty much just for poeple to see that Im in reverse.

Really REALLY nice job with the editing on the film, Alex. The views there are insanely epic. A group of guys from here in AZ are doing Black Bear & Engineer among others next week... I unfortunately can't join because I'm taking a vacation back home all next week

BUT wheeling in Colorado is definitely on my bucket list. I can't wait to see the next installment!!!

So I did the Tundra brake upgrade about two years ago. Install went horribly and never had great brake pressure after bleeding countless times and no luck. Over the course of two years and spotty brakes I've warped both rotors and my driver caliper is seized. This last summer I had really bad brakes (Still ran Black Bear Pass Whoops, no regrets). Well upon returning back to Fort Collins and getting back to work, I ordered the Power Stop Drilled and Slotted Rotors and the Ceramic Pads. Part #K2324 Front Z23 Amazon Prime Power Stop Rotors and Pads for 13wl 231mm

I'm taking in my Calipers to Autozone for replacement (Under warranty) and hopefully have them on the truck this week. It will be nice to be able to stop safely again. Don't recommend having crappy brakes for a whole summer, lucky to not have had any issues.
May also replace my soft lines to help increase brake pressure before Rock Therapy.
In the mean time I'm looking into the f150 gas tank swap because my tank is leaking in two places and if im replacing it, I might as well go big right???

Changing my 16 year old rubber brake hoses to stainless steel from Wheelers really stiffened up my brake pedal. More firmer now and way less pedal travel. I also have the TBU 231 brakes.

Looks good with the clean body lines! How long did you have those decals on the side? I'm thinking about taking my TRD ones off, they've been on for 2 years I think. I just don't want the paint to show where they were if I do take them off.
