Valley of the Gods ish

We went for our first hike of the trip right off the bat, did a short one called firehouse wall or something like that. Some ruins and a nice hike up a wide wash. About 4 miles round trip.
Didn't like any of the pictures of it because the sun was very harsh. After the hike we headed south for Valley of the Gods via the Mokey Dugway rode. Also checked out Goosenecks State Park.

Valley of the Gods ish - Comb Ridge

So after spending the night in Valley of the Gods where it was windy all night and rained most of the early morning, the rain let up and we were able to make breakfast and pack everything up without getting too wet. Today we had no plans and basically were just going to start heading back towards Blanding after checking out the town of Mexican Hat and gassing up.

This guy was driving my dog crazy all morning. Love that blank stare.

Made it into Comb Ridge which was on our drive back, decided to knock out a few hikes and camp in there.
Hiked some more ruins and rock art.

Started searching for the next camp spot. Since my dad had his big truck I was zooming around checking all the side spurs and two tracks for cool spots.

Found an awesome spot off the beaten path and hunkerd down for another pass of rain. My dads camper made it nice. Heated, sink, fridge, stove. Love it!!

[MENTION=218893]Dune4Runner[/MENTION] they're pretty much for putting whatever you can fit in there. Trash, tools, recovery gear, general whatnot. I had mine full of firewood on the trip down to Utah and stuffed my sleeping bag and clothes duffle in there on the way back to free up room inside

This was the last day out, other than just packing up and driving home. We went for one last hike, went climbing and also enjoyed one last beautiful evening around the fire.

Upon my return from Moab, my truck went into Toyota for loud ticking noise which I told them I am 95% sure it's my flex plate. Cool. Got a call two days later saying that they aren't sure and that it is highly possible its a rod knock. Soooo, I told them I doubt it, being I just drove over 1000 miles on it and it never showed signs of being a knock. So the next day they pulled the inspection plate like they should have done at the beginning instead of racking up labor hours. Boom two massive cracks. Ill upload pics of that later since I don't have any right now. So I had them replace the flexplate, starter and rear main seal.

I think I've viewed this thread more in the last month thank I ever had before. Your last trip looks like an absolute blast and your photos look great. They definitely make me want to get out there sooner rather than later.
Glad to hear you got the flexplate issue knocked out and it doesn't sound like it was too much of a headache.

Thank man, been a busy last few months with 4runner things/trips, still about 5 posts behind from current day haha.

They rock man, I feel like they are really stiff on road/city though. Probably because it's all heims and no more bushings. Small bumps are much rougher but big dips, speed bumps (besides when I hit full drop) and other rolly large hits feel like nothing.

Need to adjust them some more, have some serious driver side lean atm.

This is the back side of Comb Ridge right below the highest point you can see coming off of it, right off Utah State Route 95 before it passes through it.

So the technical term is Navajo Sandstone, so it is sandstone but looks more like Sheist and Hornfels. I know I know, I took Geology in elementary school some I'm basically a professional.

Short Trip!

So when I got my truck back I had to take it out immediately of course.
Loaded up with friends for a quick evening up Crown Point out of Pingree Park Road near Fort Collins.

We brought guns and lots of uhhhh.... sprite... yea sprite.. and bacon.

It was extremely muddddy. Kinda fun though

Early on I found that my truck was not engaging 4x4, nor was 4 low working. Low worked but 4x4 was not engaging, light wasn't coming on. Hmm..

Stopped, backed up, went forward, backed up. Really weird. I got out and my transfer case smelled of burning gear oil and was smoking. Nice. Put it back in two-wheel and just sent it. Made it to camp fine. Just annoyed my truck got ****ed up while I paid well over a grand to my own place of work...

View from where we were shooting, hiked a little ways away from everything and set up some paper targets on stumps. Also for those who care, we pack our brass out like responsible people and you should too.

At about 10pm it started snowing heavily, very exciting.

Engine Light. P0171.

I have been fighting this code for a long time and finally had it diagnosed at work while my 4x4 was getting fixed. They basically said air was bypassing my MAF and it was causing my truck to lean out pretty bad. So, not only does that mean my isr mod sucked, I also found lots of micro cracks all over my intake tubing stuffs. Ordered an Airaid Elbow on Amazon. HERE Decent reviews if you follow the instructions on install and don't crack the rubber. Showed up in a day. I love amazon.

So then I hooked er all up and went to start it. Wouldn't turn over under its own brain. So I tried again and gave it some gas. Started but ran super rough and it was enough for it to throw the codes I needed. Killed it. Searched Codes (PO100 - PO110) MAF Sensor related. I cleaned it all during install so I was worried I ****ed it up. Pulled the connector and it was a little dirty inside so I used a cue tip and cleaned it. Replaced it and realized I had installed the plug backward the first time.... :hurt: Little did I know it goes on both ways but one way causes your truck to run like crap because it has no info from your intake Whooops. PLugged it in and she fired right up and purrs now. A little quieter and way way way more throttle response.

Also chopped my ghetto tailpipe back off so it sounds really loud and bad again until I can justify redoing my exhaust and installing my hiflow cat.

I am also contemplating these down the road if I don't find a set of flares. I hate dealing with the clips and crap. Plus these are the cleanest set of Fiberglass flares I have seen on our trucks. Would make 35's fit easier at my current stance. Also It look badass IMO. hmmmm

After having my SPC Uppers in my room for about a month, I finally got around to it with some help from [MENTION=107971]derpiful[/MENTION]. Really not too bad just ran into some time-consuming issue not wanting to go get a ball joint press but in the end, we ended up having to go get one.

Out with the gross old ones. The driver side one broke loose from the ball joint super easy, two hits with a rubber mallet and it was out. The passenger, on the other hand, required just about every last bit of energy I had with a 5lbs sledge hammer. Yea I ****ed some shit up....

Pressed it out, first time through with the press it actually just pushed the ball out of the joint leaving the outer sleeve, but we had a cup to just press out the sleeve which worked ok with some serious force.

I forgot to take a picture of it installed but I'll get one after my alignment tomorrow. I set them up to push my tire really far forward for a certain reason I'm sure you will all figure out :wink2:

All I have left of parts laying around is my stupid rear body mounts from sanoran steel that I haven't gotten the willpower to tackle after trying for 30minutes to break the bolts loose that go into the frame. I'm thinking I'll pull the bumper one weekend and have to chop for 35's I mean shhh.... and that's when Ill mess with it when I can get my hands in there.
