Floor Jack and Jack Stands for Lift Install

I need to obtain a floor jack and jack stands to install my spacer lift and FJ springs. Anyone have any suggestions as to what brand floor jack and jack stands I should avoid? For example, is Craftsman a brand I should avoid or is it ok despite being sold by Sears?
Also, what weight rating should I be seeking for the floor jack and jack stands? I am thinking at least 2 tons should be ok but I really am not sure.
I will have a look at what used floor jack and jack stands people have available for sale on Craigslist and am hoping to save some money by going that route for purchasing the floor jack and jack stand but am looking for advice on the matter as well.

Harbor Freight is where I bought my floor jacks and jack stands. 3-1/2 ton jack $49 two 3 ton jack stands $19 a pair. They work great and the price is great.

:iagree: I purchased a couple of their aluminum floor jacks over the years. The only issue I ever had was stripping a handle. Pull the handle, put a dab of grease and it'll last forever. My first one I used a lot and didn't lube it:bash: It was totally my bad and not a reflection on the jack.

I bought two of their all steel ones it really makes getting things done quickly. I have a lot of their tools a 5" vice ,electric 1/2 impack wrench to get wheels lugs off, just a lot of stuff I could never afford in the past. It has worked for me.:

There is a ACDelco 2-Ton floor jack for $19.99US. Also Harbor Frieght was some 3 Ton jack stands for $12.99US on sale. I am thinking these will be OK for monthly home use. The floor jack is from Shucks/Kragons, OK? thanks

I also bought my floor jack at harbor freight. A big thing to consider is the lift height of the jack. I can't remember the exact number, but i think mine goes to 21 inches, which is what i needed after my truck (Tacoma then) was lifted in order to get it high enough to get the tires off.

I know some people just put blocks on the plate and get the extra lift that way, or you can just buy one big enough in the first place.

I've been eyeing a jack or two at Harbor Freight as well. This is the first truck I've owned, and now that the free oil changes have expired I'm starting on doing my own.

I changed the oil this weekend - while I was able to get under it without jacking it up a few extra inches could have helped.

Plus - it's an excuse to get another "toy".

I have a lot of Harbor Freight tools as well. For the occasional DIY'er they have a lot of good deals. I picked up a few torque wrenches a few weeks ago for 9.99 each (1/2 and 3/8 drives).
