Fog lights: Amber or Clear? Please share thoughts.

Just a personal request for those of you who run fog lights full time. (They were not designed for this)
PLEASE, keep the damned things aimed properly!
In the past few years I find myself flashing my highs at oncoming cars more often due to their extremely aggressive fog lights, than their driving lights!
Yes, they flash back to show me they didn't have their high beams on, but how else can I let them know that there is something wrong with their light setup?
It seems it is becoming a major problem (where I live, anyway)
If people don't fix this, by properly aiming fog lights, not installing 20,000 lumen bulbs in the damned things, or just turning them off most of the time, then maybe it will get fixed through the enforcement of yet more laws. We shouldn't need this - just run without fogs, they don't improve long distance night vision over good (legal) headlights anyway.

Part of the problem is that a lot of ebay fogs have no cutoff at all. Maybe some OEM ones, too? Without a cutoff they are useless for fog, and they cause excess glare for oncoming drivers.

You could flash your fog lights at them, and maybe they will get the hint eventually?

I have a 3rd gen 2000 to be exact with a 4x innovations plate bumper. I want yellow fog lights to go in it but also want the longevity of led. I'm considering the 4" led cubes (link Below). Has anyone had these or anything similar or just thoughts in general?

3k. for a couple reasons. it reflects much better through, fog duh, and snow. on really snowy days my visibility is increased dramatically while running the fogs. I found with white or the factory halogens it shined back to me in fog or snow making visibility worse. another, its near impossible to get the fogs and heads to match in color. it drives me nuts when I see someone with both on and they are a different tint. 3k and 6k are a nice contrast.
I used to do the HIDs but the ballasts/bulbs always had issues. I don't know if being so low and all the snow/rain splash back caused it or they were just POS. I have 3k LED bulbs now, not as bright but more reliable.

**I only use mine during inclement weather or back roads.

I also purchased these same LED 2700K bulbs from Xenon Depot with a 20% discount, and it took maybe 10 minutes to install them. They make the fog lamp look amber even when not turned on as they show up in the reflector. They work well in the snow as I live in Colorado and rain/fog. They also provide much better side coverage and broadcast far out onto the shoulders and beyond even though I use the stock reflectors housing.

Why does amber work better in bad weather conditions?
The answer is really all about the human eye which is more sensitive to the 500 nanometer wave length. This translates to the yellow/ amber color. You can verify this during the golden hours at sunrise and sunset in which everything appears sharper and better defined.
Sometimes being a geek at heart can be useful! :lol:

Are these bulbs plug and play replacements for the stock driving/fog lights and will they work on the 2016 SR5?

They are "plug and play" and did not require any tools to replace. They worked fine on my 2016 Trail so they should fit your SR5. You can confirm when you order as the crew at Xenon Depot are knowledgeable on all things "bulbs."

i would go with 3k hid for the yellow look. it will cut thought the fog.

When I ordered my HID several years ago from xenon Depot, I got the 5000k head lights, and the 3000k for my fogs. I usually just use my headlights, but I've been in several snow storms at night, or just driving in snowy/icy conditions that the amber of the fog light has helped out immensely. Worth every penny in my book

But unlike most people, I don't leave my fogs on 24/7. They can tend to blind the hell out of people since it's just a reflective fog housing

Morimoto makes round LED fog lights, but they're not as cheap as the ones you posted... I don't have them but they're on my wishlist.
