Fog lights don't work. Any help?

Well I scored so OEM fog lights the other day. Installed them Wednesday. Got my OEM switch today and installed it and bought the fog light relay. Then after about half an hour of "Why wont my headlights work now?":happens: I realized the switch was on high beams and my HIDS don't have highs.:roadkill: But now my fogs still don't work. Do I still need a fuse somewhere or do I have a short somewhere or are the lights bad? Any input would be awesome.

Sweet deal getting some OEM fogs wish I could help you out some more but I'm not really sure what all you have and don't have since your truck didn't come with the fogs. Do you have the switch for them near your headlights, if so you might have a harness already.

Yeah. I should have mentioned that Mine came pre-wired so once I mounted them, I just plugged them up. Then went to toyota and bought this

Did you install a fuse in the fog light fuse spot in the engine compartment fuse box?

There's a fuse box under there too?:wow2: I sure didn't. Thought the relay would be all I needed.

Yeah try the fuse.

Just checked and surprisingly there is a fuse in the place marked for the fogs and its still good. Any other ideas guys?

That was my first thought too. So yes it is in the right spot

How do you check to blubs on the fogs? They look really complicated to take apart.

They should just twist out counter clock-wise.

I wish it was that easy. Looks to me like they have to be dismounted and then take what looks to be 2 screws off to get the front lens off and who knows whats under there. I don't really want to get into it today and then not be able to get a hold of the bulbs.

But on the other hand I'm going out of town Sunday and I would like to have them...

Yeah I just went out and took a look... looks like a pain! Hopefully someone else will chime in with some other troubleshooting tips.

It is very easy to check the bulb. First time probably 5 minutes, after that, 1-2.


Remove the mount for the bracket. Should be 1 10mm bolt.

The whole assembly should be able to be removed after that.


With the assembly out, 3 very small screws will be holding the cover for the bulbs closed.

Thanks for the how to tip! I looked at the bulbs and both were blown. So I replaced them and still nothing.:wtf:

This is getting really frustrating!

Anyone else have an idea of what it could possibly be?

Is there power going to and from the relay and fuse? The switch?

x2 on the power going to the relay- have you checked the relay under the dash?

Well at least you didn't take em apart for nothing! I'm all out of ideas on this one.

Check for power at the relay socket. That would be easy enough to do.

Then check your grounds . Then check your terminals again as they were open to the environment for many years and might be corroded.

Damn, how many relays does this thing have for fog lights? The one in the engine bay is brand new. Where is the one under the dash?

haha! When I saw they were blown I was like "Oh that explains it!" and then still nothing.

I will check for power to the relay later today.

Then check your terminals again as they were open to the environment for many years and might be corroded.

That could very well be the issue as one of them had water dripping out of it...
Should I have mentioned that earlier?
